Thus Spake Zaranephilpal/SolarBond
A positive Intimacy does not preclude you being an enemy. It just means you feel conflicted when you do what you know you need to do.
I'm going to wax weepy here, Inugami, and talk about the beauty of Luna. In the setting of Exalted, the goddess most associated with the purview of love isn't at all about true love. Venus is too much of a cynic. She sees the big picture so widely she can't conceive of a single relationship actually mattering that much. Look at what Samsara has to say about love and sex. It's faintly horrible, personally.
And then you have Luna. She loves Gaia more than anyone else in the setting probably loves anyone else. She holds onto the that bond in the face of all adversity. She waits, she yearns, she stays true. No matter what, she loves. That Lunars emulate this magically toward their Solar mates in microcosm is beautiful. It means that no matter what, the love is bigger than any wickedness a Solar could bring. It is bigger than the evil of the Neverborn. It is big enough to encompass the infinitudes of the Primordials. It is triumphant. No Abyssal or Infernal can truly ever be rid of this living hope that they can be something nobler than they are. They can never be rid of this one being believing in them, at least on some level. That is a kind of heroism Solars don't teach the setting. Lunars do. And nobody, but nobody, gets to take that away from them. That's why I'm against the idea of Lunars auto-hating their corrupted spouses. No. They love bigger. They love better. They love beyond death, and because Exaltation is the one an only truly indestructible thing in the setting, they alone can love forever. Even if Oblivion wins.
And that is glorious.
