If you'll note, I think Octavian has "Malfean Iron" artifacts (if I'm remembering correctly). Black Lead seems to fit right in as a quasi-magical material. It's magical enough to make an artifact, but not exactly a magical material in the way the core 5 are.

Kimberry is the Sea that Marched against the Flame. Obviously, her powers and those of her servant are oceanic in nature.

You're also misunderstanding something about Infernals. They've been around since the First Age in varying, though small, numbers. The 50 Solar Essences given to the Ebon Dragon have a purpose, and that purpose isn't the ultimate cap on total Infernal population. That's a new thing... a forthcoming thing. Dukantha is an Infernal of old.

The Broken Winged Crane allows its readers to become an Infernal Exalt of the most powerful sort. There may be other ways, because well, obviously, Dukantha found one.

Sorcery counters necromancy and vice versa according the formulas in Abyssals. I don't imagine it matters how you got the sorcery or from whom.
