I'm also in total agreement . . . except on one point. In a default game of Exalted, the difficulties you've set (5, impossible) seem excessive. I can't imagine making it anywhere near that hard for a Solar, based on typical examples of what 5 successes means, so I don't think that it should be that hard for a Sidereal. Even though Sidereals have applicable bonuses. :)

I figure that if the GM asks, "Solar Femme X, you're running around bare-breasted while disguised as a man. Exactly how are you going to maintain your disguise?", five successes handles "body language and keeping their eyes on my face"; if you add "shadows and makeup", you can get it down to four. :) I mean, come on, five successes on a social-type roll is enough to turn most people who hate you into your loyal mob!

A lot depends on the player, of course; many players in that situation will decide the jig is up. But there are a few trickster archetypes that wouldn't, and would have either prepared for it or would try to just stick out the situation boldly.
