Faradai, Artificer of Most Efficacious Prostheses

Of the most notable of the gods of Medicine in the first age, Faradai was one of the most interesting. He held dominion over all the multitudinous kinds of prostheses man created to deal with infirmities & battle wounds, from the simplest of peg-legs and wooden teeth to the most elaborate of Oricalcum artifact-arms and Jade ocular replacements. So great was his skill and knowledge that many of the Princes of the Land, the Exalted, chose to replace their lost limbs after the great battle with the Primordials with elaborate creations of his design instead of having the Twilights re-grow their arms and legs with their Charms and Sorceries.

The loss of so much technology in the Second Age however has placed him in a very similar set of circumstances as Vanileth, the Shogun of Artificial Flight. His domain has decreased by exponential degrees, and he is much less than he once was, retaining only 5 Essence where he once boasted 7. While the great majority of his fellow gods of Medicine have been absorbed into the Department of Abstract Matters in the Bureau of Heaven (albeit in decreased fashions), Faradai has chosen to remain in the Bureau of Humanity, either out of a sense of loyalty (after all, rare indeed is the god who has need of a prosthesis), or because of the general lack of close scrutiny that much of the Bureau of Humanity enjoys.

Physically, Faradai varies a great deal. At his core, it is difficult to tell how much of the god is “natural”, and how much is artificial. All of his limbs, one eye, his teeth, his ears… all tend to change from time to time as he cycles between his vast collection of add-ons, appearing at one event with smooth golden arms and legs of a warrior, and at another with mechanical articulated spider’s legs, or even occasionally wheels. The one constant is his general size, and his Right eye, which appears as a normal, hazel human eye with the twinkle of a genial grandfather.

Faradai is generally affable and cheerful, but can be very paternal and sometimes strongly protective of any mortal unfortunate to need his abilities.
