Born the only son of a well-off courtesan in a pleasure house of Nexus (one with very good food, many exotic ladies from all over creation, a regular musician in the common room, well-respected and varied patrons, etc…). Was horribly attractive. Inherited good looks from both mother as well as absentee father, & became the darling of entire house from Madam to the cook’s servants. Learned quickly how much a bit of charm could get you, and how much more being attractive got you on top of that.

As an adolescent, went looking for things to get him physically in shape, the better to be attractive to others, & found a willing troupe of acrobats & troubadours who took him into their ensemble.

Something happens to destroy/estrange him from the whorehouse, dunno what.

Makes a living being charming & pretending to be what he’s not, & eventually moves on away from Nexus.
