One of the gravest disasters in the history of the Realm was the Tara Hill Primary School Field Trip of 578. A storm, hideous beyond measure, and probably Wyld-tainted, swept away the entire squadron of ships hauling the students on a trip to Lapdancer to learn about the Threshold first hand. The children were swept off to the West and captured by Oni, who hoped to breed an army of magical girls who could be raised from a still pliable age.
So the children were set up on a Wyld-tainted island and taught to worship the 'Pig-God', a giant pig head carven into a local mountain. They were divided into tribes and encouraged to compete and left to socialize themselves.
What follows remains unclear, shrouded in the myths of the Islanders, but somehow, the children managed to overthrow and slay the Oni, then developed their own feral society with an unusually high proportion of Magical Girls but also an unusually high amount of being messed up. Realm explorers didn't even find them for decades as the Wyld-tainted island was traditionally ignored. They repelled an attempt by the Realm to reclaim them. They still worship the Pig Head, which still talks to them by some means unknown for sure to outsiders. For centuries, it has bred its army.
And now, it seems to be teaching them to build ships; the time for conquest has begun, it seems...
The Pig Head Islanders have both an obsession with cuteness and an incompetence at it. They wear crude clothing, don't bathe very often, and have little access to makeup. Nevertheless, they judge people by their beauty and struggle endlessly to demonstrate who is cuter, which often ends in violence.
