The city of Lapdancer rules over a vast, highly populated and fertile agricultural area. The city itself is built on a mountain carved during the first age to resemble a monk being seduced by a barely clad lapdancer. Parts of the mountain are hallowed out and filled with rooms and tunnels; buildings have also been built on top of the more level parts. The legs of the monk and the dancer have roads which provide access to the rest of the city.

The city was, for centuries, a hereditary monarchy, but in the 5th century, it was awarded to House Houri. After the monarchs plotted against House Houri, they overthrew it and instituted rule by prostitutes; the city has been ruled by whores ever since. It controls a roughly 100 mile radius around itself.

The city's government is run by a council of the city Madams with an elected body of representatives chosen by the city's whores and by retired whores. (Whores must serve at least a decade before they can retire if they wish to retain their voting rights.) The council chooses a chairwoman to lead them, known as 'The High Madam'. The representative of House Houri retains a veto over the council's actions, and collects tribute.

The mountain itself appears to be a giant device built by Harem Agers; after each harvest, the Monk 'blows his top' and rains down highly fertile volcanic ash on all the fields in a vast swathe around the city; this ash renders the land extremely fertile. There are dozens of manses inside the area of effect which are all linked into the Lapdancer, powering it; the city also contains a dozen power taps which are used to power many conveniences in the city--many dwellings have running water, air conditioning, lights, and other conveniences, as a result.

One of the legs of the monk has Lapdancer Castle, the old royal residence, now a residence and fortress for House Houri. One of Houri's legions is based here, though at any given time, about half of it is gone elsewhere.
