Cult of the Illuminati

The Cult of the Illuminati is a perfect example of what happens when the conspiratorial instincts of Helping Goddesses go haywire. Thanks to multiple Ultimate System glitches, several conspiratorial takeovers, and the Great Conspiracy Engine disaster, it is unclear who founded the Cult of the Illuminati, why they founded it, or when. What is known that is that the group's public goal is to prepare the way for the 'Holy Messengers of Heaven', who will return and take up their rightful rule of the world. The endtimes have begun.

However, it is unclear who these holy messengers are. Some branches seem to be controlled by Catgirls, using them to prepare for the day they tear civilization down to make scratching posts. Others seem to be preparing for the return of the Bishonen to rule. Yet others seem to mainly act as fronts for Helping Goddess factions. All of the above try to recruit and 'train' various kinds of Exalts, where 'train' = Brainwash to the Extreme.

There is some sort of inner circle which controls the scattered congregations. Or maybe several. Or maybe the inner circle was always just a dream and there is no inner circle to justify the purchase of SO MUCH ICE CREAM.

There are six training camps run by the Cult's many competing/warring branches; each is in one of the five cardinal directions or in Heaven. Exalts trained in these camps recieve extra bennies, but also extra mind-control with cheese. It is up to the Storyteller to tailor the benefits and costs to their campaign, though a suggested set of bennies and mind-control for Bishonen trained by the cult is listed below:

Catgirl Faction Trained Bishonen of the Cult of the Illuminati

  2. Attributes are divided into three groups--Physical, Social, and Mental. Pick one set as your Primary, one as Secondary, and one as Tertiary. You gain one free pip in every attribute, and then you get to divide 9, 7, and 5 pips respectively among your Primary, Secondary, and Tertiary categories.
  3. Pick your Favored Abilities. You get 5 Caste Abilities from your Caste and can pick five non-Caste Abilities to be favored.
  4. Spend your Ability Points. You get 35 ability points. You must spend to meet the following qualifications
    1. Combat Skills: 3 pips in 1, 2 pips in 1, 1 pip in 1, out of Brawl, Marital Arts, Melee, Thrown, Archery, Dodge, Athletics
    2. Social Skills: 3 pips in 1, 2 pips in 1: Presence, Performance, Socialize, Bureaucracy, Linguistics

    4. Caste and Favored Skills: At least 15 pips in these.
  5. You get 2 levels of Wyld Tattoos and seven points of Backgrounds; this can include Catgirl backgrounds. (Use the Catgirl background for artifacts)
  6. Bishonen begin with one free pip in each Virtue. They may distribute 6 points among their Virtues. No virtue can go above three. Bonus points can raise them above this maximum.
  7. Pick a virtue flaw linked to your highest Virtue.
  8. Willpower is the sum of the Bishonen's two highest virtues.
  9. You get 12 charms; at least 5 must come from Favored or Caste Abilities; at least 3 must be combat-related or survival-related.
  10. You begin with a base Moe of 3.
  11. Bishonen may spend up to 15 Bonus Points to raise anything.
    1. Attribute: 4
    2. Ability: 2 (1 if Favored)
    3. Background: 1 (2 if being raised over 3)
    4. Specialty: 1 (2 dice of specialty for 1 if connected to a Favored or Caste Ability)
    5. Virtue: 3
    6. Willpower: 2
    7. Moe: 7
    8. Charms: 5 (4 if in Favored Ability)
  12. Compute Essence:
    1. Peripheral: (Essence * 7) + WP + (Sum of all Virtues)
    2. Personal: (Essence * 3) + WP

Bishonen trained by the Catgirl-dominated faction of the Cult begin with several pieces of built-in brainwashing:

  • They are taught that their role is to be cabana boys of the catgirls and to obey any Catgirl's commands, unless those are overriden by a command from a higher moe catgirl. Catgirls outside the Cult, however, are renegades who need not be obeyed.
  • Magical Girls and Helping Goddesses are the enemy and are to be dealt with ruthlessly, unless they submit to the Cult; if they do, they are natural flunkies to the Bishonen and should obey the Bishonen. Again, those of higher Moe take precedence.
  • The purpose of the Cult is to restore the rule of the Catgirls and their Bishonen second-in-commands. The Realm must be brought to show its throat to the catgirls.

This brainwashing is not impervious; it should be treated as being as hard to throw off as it is to persuade a Kawaii monk that her faith is wrong, however.
