Character for StalkerofShadows Name: Nefvarin Summer Breeze
Caste: Zenith
Nature: Visionary
Anima barrier:
Summer Breeze’s anima barrier is a beautiful four-winged female angel formed of golden light that hovers slightly above and behind her. As more essence is used, the angel grows larger and glows brighter. Effects such as Zenith fire bolts appear to fly from the hands of the angel. The angel appears about 8 feet tall when the anima barrier is first reached, but may reach the size of a warstrider in intense combat or during a limit break. If the anima barrier appears when Summer Breeze is under a limit break, it appears in a terrible wrath instead of beauteous and awe-inspiring. The light of the Unconquered Sun burns from her eyes as her hands form long claws to rend apart her opponents.

appearance: recent events in her life have taught her to try and keep a lower profile, usually heavily cloaked with only the bulge of her daiklave indicating anything special about her. When she removes her cloak, it is immediately apparent that she is more than mortal. She straightens to her full height of almost 6 and half feet tall. She wears a military uniform of unknown origin and a golden breastplate embossed with a dove flying outwards. For those that can tear their eyes from her beautiful figure, they will immediately notice her long, dark hair flying about her face. Her face speaks of a heritage of nobility. Her eyes seem to speak of both grim determination and witness to things that mortals cannot comprehend. They flicker through all the hues of the sunrise as one stares into them. Her skin is pale as the first rays of dawn and are in stark contrast to her dark tresses and colorful eyes.

Diary of our adventures thus far:

Descending Fire, Day 15, Year of the Bronze Dragon, 11th Epoch of the Dragon-Blooded Shogunate (RY 769)

I arrived in the kingdom of Xinzt today. The place is not much to look at, probably ten thousand people or so live here. They have no fortifications around the town and no castle, how did this place ever survive in the Hundred Kingdoms?! I encountered the leader of their army, Mr. Jiaken. He recognized me as a Solar and I he. The encounter went exceedingly well, he seems to be a normal, rational person. However, he seems to know nothing of the Unconquered Sun and received no direction from our patron during his exaltation. I find this worrisome. As it turns out, he is not even one of the Solar heroes that rules the kingdom! Apparently that group has been away for over a month. Yet this kingdom still stands, untouched by the Wyld Hunt. I have tried to arrange for a meeting with Brandas, king of this realm but have been unsuccessful.

Descending Fire, Day 16, Year of the Dragon

An exceedingly eventful day!

I performed my morning devotions and drew a crowd. I was shocked to learn that the townsfolk knew nothing of the Unconquered Sun, and at least several Solars dwell here! I spent the morning teaching them the proper devotions to the Unconquered Sun and how He has helped them in their lives. Several of the townsfolk seem genuinely interested. I met with the group of Solars I had heard so much about. They were not what I expected at all. They are five in number: Beans the warrior, Woo the politician, Summer Lotus, Kal the sorcerer and Chan, who I am not exactly sure what he does. They seemed very uninterested in me and went about their business quickly, mostly ignoring me. We met with lord Brandas that evening. There were some other unusual guests; a spirit woman made of gemstone and a Dragon-blooded sorcerer. The lord of the city is a young man, he apparently inherited the throne through tragedy and is yet naïve of the ways of the court. However, he is quite pleasant. I was horrified to find that my fellow Solars do not honor the Unconquered Sun during meals or at the sunrise, and have not even constructed a proper temple to Him! I spoke to them a bit about this before other events distracted us. Apparently the Dragon-Blooded sorceress is the mentor of Kal. Nothing is wrong with this, as Dragon-Blooded I knew in the past were quite knowledgable. However (I am told) she is under the influence of a spell that Kal cannot unweave. This led to violence and the Solars of Xinzt incapacitating said sorceress until such time as the spell can be broken. Another misfortune has befallen the area; several of Brandas’ loyal guards have been murdered. No clues as to the identity of the murderer were identified. I proposed the simple solution of meeting with the city father of Xinzt. It seemed to take even their Eclipse by surprise, but he agreed to introduce me. We met with Arnoun that night. He seems to be quite a serene city father, many others are more impassioned about the domains. But I digress, the city father informed us that the murders were performed by the sons of his rival. After digesting this news with Woo, I asked permission from the patron to lead the worship of the Unconquered Sun in the town. He agreed, and I believe that in the future we can reach an agreement that will both strengthen the city father (and hopefully the city) while maintaining the glory of the Unconquered Sun.

Descending Fire, Day 17, Year of the Dragon

Today we prepared to travel from Xinzt. It seemed many things were happening at once, but in the end, the sorcerer and Summer Lotus flew north, and the rest of us took a ship to Great Falls. We met a fire-aspect in Xinzt that the group had met before. He seems quite full of himself and compulsive. He claims to be investigating for Lookshy, but he shows a lack of military discipline. Great Forks is an exciting place, it has been long since I visited. What amazed me is Wu asked for an audience with The Three and was almost immediately granted one! He must have more pull than it would appear. The Three are indeed impressive. Wu introduced me, and had little other business to attend to. I spoke with Dreamweaver, and he offered his support in remembering more about the First Age. Maybe this will lead to a cure for my nightmares of that past… I had the ”joy” of dining with our Dragon-Blooded acquaintance while the other Solars went to make some purchases. The bastard is sure full of himself, that was probably the least enjoyable meal I ever had. Then the idiot accepts a duel with Beans! They agreed to keep the match to touches, so I did not need to intervene. Reshaping the brains of two idiots is more work than it is worth in any case.

Descending Fire, Day 18, Year of the Dragon

A horrible day indeed! The two idiots could not honor their agreement and fell to deadly blows in the arena. I was very tempted to intervene but it seemed that abandoning the cause to prevent one maiming was not worth the risk. I hope the Unconquered Sun understands. Beans won of course, and severed several of the Dragon-Bloods fingers. I feel sorry for the poor man, one poor decision has cost him much. I apologized to him but he seemed more embarrassed than enraged. Still, I hope that I can make things up to him. Angering Dragon-Bloods to solve a pissing contest is a waste of our time, at best.

Descending Fire, Day 19, Year of the Dragon

We traveled back to Xinzt by boat today. Met up with Kal at the city. More guards were murdered while we were gone. Beans and Chan are setting up an ambush for tonight. I was pleased that the city folk are still honoring the Unconquered Sun during my absence, I feel that I have truly made a difference in their lives.

Descending Fire, Day 20, Year of the Dragon

The nightmares have returned… Every time I fall asleep I see them…the faces of the Dragon-blooded that murdered me in the First Age, the faces of the zombies that drug away my sister. The screams that I hear are my own, helpless to do anything. I can feel my lord’s anger beating down upon me in my visions of the First Age. Surely there is something horrible that we did then. If I could only discover what, I might find a way to reunite the Solars are fight the evil that walks Creation. Beans was insistent on staying and guarding the guards, but the rest of us convinced him to travel to Avney’s city and speak to the god. It was an uneventful travel until we reached the city. Chan provided us with some bright morning so that we could interact with Avney. It was a new experience for me, only the senior Dragon-Blooded chaplains are permitted to use bright morning in the Seventh Legion. Avney is a most practical god. He admitted his children are out of control and wishes to punish them. He claims to not have a grudge against Solars or Arnoun but I am not sure as if to believe him. We discussed some things we could offer him for his help with the situation. It was late so we decided to sleep on the decision.

Descending Fire, Day 21, Year of the Dragon

We came to an agreement with Avney today; we will seek a better position for him with the Eastern Court in return for his support. I was most vocal on this route, surely there is something that the spirit courts can offer him. They must listen to us, after all, did we not work with them in the First Age? A position of larceny or spycraft would be most fitting for the god. After all, he almost succeeded in his scheme to take over Xinzt but for the intervention of Wu’s circle. His children proved to be reasonable as well. They had no desire to fight a circle of Solars, and returned to their father’s side. Surely he can offer them something other than their continued existence, I am not sure if a spirit court will deal with mortals.

Descending Fire, Day 22, Year of the Dragon

Unfortunately the soldiers of Xinzt are not nearly as hopeful in their physical battles as their spiritual sides. It is said that Solars in the First Age could train warriors skilled as the god-blooded. I do not know if this is true or not. I have not discovered these skills, neither has Beans or Jiaken. Kal has no occult knowledge of such a practice, it is yet another skill I must discover on my own, if it exists.

Descending Fire, Day 23, Year of the Dragon

We are home again, whatever that means. I feel as if I do not truly have a home anymore, but that it does not matter anymore. All of the world should be our home, maybe which was the mistake we made in the past; too many kingdoms where we were gods unto ourselves. I should remember that at the next Deliberative. I feel concern about our ability to contact the other Circles. I know in the past, that we could communicate from one end of Creation to the other in moments. Perhaps we are not yet skilled enough; perhaps it is no longer possible. However, neither Kal nor I have time to explore the arcane arts to find such a means. He speaks of some “Wooden Face” spell that someone at the Deliberative taught him. It seems…unreliable though, I don’t think it’s the method that was at the edge of my thoughts, but I could be wrong. It could be quite useful though to link not just the circles, but the mortal supporters (especially Dace’s) that we have. I must admit that he is quite charming, something of the warriors of old (other than the obvious) lives on within him. Certainly better than the clumsy oafs (Beans) arrogant sorcerers (Kal) or social misfits (Chan and Wu) that I normally travel with.

Ascending Water, Day 1, Year of the Bronze Phoenix

Somehow I have stumbled onto the Righteous Tiger Warrior’s training path! It came to me when I was watching Jiaken attempting to keep another country sod from tripping over his own practice stave. The proper path is not to train the mind and body (although it helps), but to train the spirit. Within even the most feeble among us, the spark of past warriors lives on. It can be called forth with the proper enticement by Sol Invictus. Kal left several days ago, and said it may be many seasons before he returns. May the Unconquered Sun watch over him while he is away.

Primacy Water, Day 5, Year of the Phoenix

I had planned to train a core of competent officers to spread the Righteous Tiger’s Way, but it seems to have failed. It appears that only I have the power to use this method. I would say that only those who can use essence may know this power, but Jiaken seems to be unable to teach in this manner as well. Unfortunately he seems like a ship without a rudder; aimless without a battle to fight. However, I am confident that he will find his own way in time.

Various entries, Primacy Water – Descending Wood, Year of the Phoenix

Descending Wood, Day 20, Year of the Phoenix

Everyone has finally returned, from gods-knows what. Kal did something useful and summoned a few earth elementals to build walls around the city. He called some sort of other elemental after that, I guess its some sort of servant of Fakaru’s. That plan didn’t work out so great, it took everyone except me and Kal in a few runs, at which point it was exhausted. I guess another night of sleep in Xinzt before we arrive in the jungle.

Descending Wood, Day 21, Year of the Phoenix

The city walls seem to have a good start, those elementals are brighter than I thought. Anyway, Kal did his summoning-trick again. This time the elemental got it right and we were teleported…translated…summoned… whatever you call it to (insert name of town). Apparently the 3 idiots didn’t destroy the place in the day it took to get here. Oddly, the inhabitants seem unimpressed about essence-wielders wearing orichalum running about. Even more odd, the Realm abandoned the garrison and didn’t even leave any scouts. I’m well aware that they have ways of communicating from the Threshold to the Blessed Isle directly, they must have really wanted out of this place to leave nobody behind. Wu has apparently found a guide willing to take us to the city, I can hardly wait!
