The Republic of Halta is in turmoil. It has recently seen a great victory over the Linowan, brought about by its alliance with The Bull of the North.

“Victory” being only in the loosest sense of the term. Many communities only know that their best warriors are not coming home. The Linowan threat remains – although somewhat diminished. Those with the resources to discover so learn terrible tales of the war – entire cities wiped out, and monsters of legend killing hundreds in a battle. The only parties to seemingly profit were the Anathema and the Fair Ones beneath Halta. The Council is troubled. A new queen will be elected shortly. Some wish for a candidate that will push for a stronger alliance with the northern Anathema – and wipe out the Linowan threat once and for all. Others hope that the current crisis will pass them by if they disengage – but can one really put the genie back in the bottle? Perhaps the greatest hope is for an alliance with neutral Anathema. It is said they were once known as the Lawgivers, and their wisdom and diplomatic skills were legendary. Can they find some way to appease the war-like Icewalkers, or is it simply inviting the fox to guard the henhouse? Only time will tell…
