Solar Linguistics Charms by CrownedSun
Masterful Translation Technique
Cost: 4 motes, 1 willpower Duration: One scene Type: Simple Minimum Linguistics: 3 Minimum Essence: 3 Prerequisite Charms: Excellent Emissary's Tongue
With this charm, the Solar Exalted may facilitate communication with an ease and sublety that others will not even fully realize that the people they are communicating with are speaking different languages. The Charm requires the character spend at least a few moments immersed in the languages of those present, at which time he can step forward and begin translating what is said in a fully comprehensible yet very unobtrusive manner. Everyone present can fully understand what everyone else is saying, provided they can hear (or see, if he's using Poetic Expression Style) the Solar's translations, and find the situation no more of a hassle than any other conversation. It doesn't matter how many languages are being spoken in the situation, or how many people are speaking at any one time. Even if a half-dozen people begin to roar at each other in outraged anger, the Eclipse can instantly translate their words with time left to interject himself into the situation and calm everyone down.
Flawless Contract Preparation
Cost: 10 motes, 1 willpower Duration: Instant Type: Simple Minimum Linguistics: 3 Minimum Essence: 2 Prerequisite Charms: Sagacious Reading of Intent
Flawless Contract Preparation allows the character to write a perfectly put together contract or agreement. Not just simple words on a piece of paper, a Flawless Contract is almost a work of art. It is simple and easy to understand, except in matters that the Solar wishes to obfuscate or conceal within the text of the contract. In addition, the contract is utterly solid -- the only loopholes it contains are the ones that the Solar who drew it up wished it to contain, and if he wishes to do so he can make an utterly binding and perfect contract which is still simple to read and understand as well as appearing very elegant.
When a Solar uses this charm, he decides what he wants to contract to deal with and the wording he wishes to use. If he intends to hide any hidden meanings or loopholes, he must decide to do such at this point. He should also decide who, if anyone, the contract 'favors'. The player discusses these things with the Storyteller, while the character spends an hour writing up his flawless contract. Anyone reading the contract has a number of extra successes on his roll equal to the Solar’s essence, except in matters that the Solar is deliberately hiding. In order to discover such matters, the reader has to make a Intelligence + Linguistics roll at a difficulty equal to the Solar’s Essence rating.
If a contractual issue comes up later, assume that the contract favors the person who the Solar favored. If he favored no-one, then the Storyteller should decide what the most fair resolution of the issue is. Unless the Solar obfuscates this fact, such contractual favoritism is quite obvious to anyone reading the contract.
