Silenced characters cannot cast ANY charms or sorceries. They still benefit from the effects of their hearthstones and, unless they were also dispelled, any non-instant effects they had cast before. Luckily silence status only lasts for a number of rounds, rather than a whole scene. Silenced characters CAN use their anima abilities. It is said that there is some sort of potion or food that, when consumed, instantly cures this status effect.
