I Am The World – All things, from the weather to the color of cement, are only there because I decide to keep them from the real world. This is pretty standard for any role playing game, but it bears mentioning because of one preference I have. I will dictate departures and arrivals of any and all things. What does this mean? Well, it means that if you want to go somewhere, tell me you’re going there. I will tell you when you succeed in departing, and when you succeed in arriving. I find this is a very argumentative point in many games ("What? I wasn't here, I was with everyone else."), and I don’t want to waste any more time on it than I have to. If you’re somewhere, I will usually try to tell you so; it isn’t up to you to tell me where you are, so much as it is up to you to tell me where you want to be. Before I go to the next rule, let me note that this rule applies to many other things as well – namely, stunts. I will issue stunts to you without provocation; do not ask me for them.

Player Characters Are Miraculously Immune to Other Player Character Social Powers Unless They Wish Otherwise – I detest seeing one player use magic to seduce another player. It’s moronic. It’s moronic because it removes the role-playing from a role-playing experience where dice are unnecessary – because you’re not dealing with one of my thousands of characters that need dice-determined behaviors. If you are using a social power of some variety on another player, you must spend the motes, effect points, or willpower, and then leave the rest to role-playing. If they choose not to role-play it, that is up to them. Drop the subject and move on - don't try and press past what may be someone's comfort zone. Conversely, if you find that you are the recipient of one of these social attempts, do try to play along convincingly if you can. You’re an actor. Act; if rolling the dice help you do that, I’ll be glad to make an exception to this rule in your case.

I Grant A Lot of Experience – Not just because I like you, but also because I feel it encourages you to do things my way if I reward you when you’re doing things right! Experience points start at a base of three points, for every game, attended or no. For any more than this, you must attend the game. I grant one experience point per game for each of the following circumstances (and, no, I won’t tell you when you’ve earned one, usually): cooperation, insight, puzzle solving, danger, important NPC tasks, self-sacrifice, role-playing, achievement of goals, +3 stunts, organization, beauty, power, and succinct descriptions. You can top out and reach a point where no more experience is available to you, so don’t overdo it. I also subtract points every time you make me unhappy or tip the balance of the game unfairly somehow. Finally, at the end of each game, all players will hold a secret vote wherein they send to me the name of their favorite player that session. This player receives an extra point for each vote he had over any runners up, at a minimum of one. (Presently this means, as we have five players, that a unanimous vote could amount to five points of bonus experience.)

Despite All of This, the World Is Yours – Even though it is me. Its future relies on PC actions, and though it may not seem so at first, I don’t mind guaranteeing you that you are going to be the most important people on the planet. This is my story, but it is a story about your characters. Do not assume that I have overriding plans for you (although I may), and allow your characters to have their own volition. I will accommodate you if I can, but it will be easier if I can believe that your characters are likely to attain resources enough to accomplish their goals without my help. I’m not a bad hand at drawing strange connections – so don’t worry that you’ll step out of the boundaries of the story if you want to, say, take a jet plane hostage and fly to another country. Signs of Conjunction is a game about changing the world. The rest is in your hands.
