Shorlixa/WPCrew
Here we have the crew of brave sailors who dare travel with these Solars. Needless to say, as the crew of a pirate ship, they're all able to handle themselves in combat with anything from swords to bows. Still, outside of it, they have other duties that they must see to.
The Current Crew
Gyar is the second-in-command. He runs the ship pretty well and relays the Captain's orders and makes sure they're obeyed. He's a steady man, a fierce warrior and strongly loyal to the Captain. He is definitely one of the few crewmen that has the Captain's trust. He knows pretty much everyone on the ship to some extent and all know to fear him. While the Captain is kind, he is the one who raises the whip.
Avery is officially the gunner of the ship. He fires off the huge ballista weapon that punches nasty holes in the enemy's ship and encourages them to surrender faster. Unofficially, he's also the singer and storyteller. He enjoys telling stories about the captain and crew but there's enough variation in the details that one must remember to take the tales with a pinch of salt.
Jesslaw is the only one left of two decent carpenters who kept the Hurricane afloat when it sprung its inevitable leaks, and repaired her after the many skirmishes out at sea. The second carpenter has since died in battle. When Orillian came, the carpenters were somewhat relegated to the side, and settled to do minor repairs and fletching arrows. He is very mournful of his loss, since Keen Razor and him were very close. Incidentally, now that they're on the Tempest, Jesslaw has become even more useless, good only for fighting battles and fletching arrows. He's kinda depressed.
Winsome Smile is the only female on the ship who is a mortal. She's also regarded as a treasure by the crew. No matter the dryness or staleness of rations, this excellent cook somehow manages to make food good enough to eat every single meal. She also brandishes a pair of choppers that keeps itchy fingers from dipping too much into the rations on the ship. Incidentally, she has some skill with the needle as well and is sometimes called to help mend the sails, even the steelsilk sails. As the daughter of Jaisda, she knows some basic Thaumaturgy.
Terris is a weaponsmith who would love to apprentice himself to Orillian. If he could gather up the courage to ask. As things stand, he simply continues his duties as a weaponsmith aboard the ship. While Ryoujal is technically the armsmaster, the duty of arming the men and ensuring their equipment is in good condition falls to Terris. He has a good mind for logistics and knows the weapon stores of the ship intimately.
Berane takes care of supplies for the ship. Most of her financial matters are handled by him, and he is also highly adept at fencing off cargo looted from their prey. The crew apply to him for their pay, and he is also the one who issues purses to the right people to purchase specific supples (like Winsome Smile for food or Terris for Firedust). He has an assistant by the name of Ulos who aids him in his duties, an eager boy with an extremely sharp mind. Berane also handles the appeasement of spirits where necessary by prayer, sacrifice or ritual.
Ivory Whisper, Leaping Dawn Carp, Sixth Star and Ques used to be in charge of the rigging and mooring of the ship. They're all quick and nimble-bodied, working through their duties with a practiced ease. With the Tempest, they're part of the ordinary crew, instead shifting to being the first boarders of enemy ships, using their natural athleticism to swing and board. They still play around on the ropes of the ship though. Dawn Carp has a habit of jumping from rope to rope, which is why they added 'Leaping' to his name. Sixth Star has a beautiful voice and often accompanies Avery in his songs. He also has some family back on Storm Isle. Ivory Whisper is the steadiest of the lot and very careful in his job. He speaks of his wife and two kids to anyone willing to listen. Ques could match Dawn Carp in terms of flamboyance. He is a natural acrobat and likes to flaunt that skill. He also likes to volunteer for crow nest duty, in the event of seeing something new and different.
Burning Snake, Ferocious Onyx, Wei, Vanex, Moss, Silverfish and Calas handle miscellanous duties on the ship. That means they go where they're required and do what is needed. They're also usually the ones found on guard duty and manning the weapons. Wei used to be the surgeon on the ship. His skills still see much use, but he has expanded his duties since Orillian came to a more general one. Ferocious Onyx used to be the navigator. He still takes the helm when neither Captain Megumi nor Lady Syn is inclined to do so and keeps up with the maps of the regions. The others now are basic combat-ready crew, prepared to board enemy ships to loot and plunder. Burning Snake and Vanex like to compare their strength, since muscles are required for the rowing. They often challenge Ryoujal to a wrestling match, which they inevitably lose, but it provides them with practice. Incidentally, Ulos and Burning Snake are brothers, though not from the same mother, and the rest of their family is back on Storm Isle. Moss is following his brother, Dandelion, in joining the crew, although one hopes he will not meet the same end. He is hard-working and is trying to prove his worth as a member of the crew. Silverfish used to be a fringe member of society on Storm Isle and has signed on because he wants to do something else aside from fish. Calas is a rather quiet member of the crew. He was recruited from Storm Isle, but has no blood relations there. He doesn't speak much and simply does his duties.
The Used-to-be Crew
When the Chimerae Lunar attacked Storm Isle, six men fell in battle. Their names were Stonefall, Requiem, Corin, Keen Razor and Dandelion. They will be missed.
- Keen Razor was a carpenter aboard the ship and good friends with Jesslaw.
- Stonefall liked his rum and sang bawdy lyrics in his loud voice when drunk.
- Dandelion was the second son of Shore and Bubbles, a couple who runs the tavern on Storm Isle
- Requiem was a quiet man who did his duties as well as he could.
- Corin preferred to fight, but his skills often left him rowing instead.
The ship used to be called Hurricane. After the terrible battle with the Chimerae Lunar, it was broken and had to be rebuilt. Megumi has since christened this new ship Squall. Then the Squall got traded to a Fae. Now they travel on the Tempest.
