Fluff

Humble Avalanche was born in Nexus to an impoverished family, who were quickly pushed to sell the child into slavery to pay for one of their many debts. When he was of age, Humble Avalanche was handed off to a group of pit-fighters. Avalanche performed exceptionally in the arena, and quickly grew in renown among the types who follow such things. He found life in the pits hard, not because of the dangers involved, but because Humble Avalanche is a caring and compassionate soul. Whenever possible, he would spare his opponents lives, and has even been known to bind their bleeding wounds. His handler, a particularly bloodthirsty slaver, would regularly whip Avalanche senseless for showing such mercy, until one day Humble Avalanche exalted, and killed his master with his bare hands (incidentally, he killed his master accidentally, and actually felt guilt for doing so, despite his master's cruelty). With his master dead, Humble Avalanche pronounced himself free, and there was no one strong enough to disagree.

Humble Avalanche continued to fight in the arena for several years, his access to Charms helping him greatly: although he restrained himself from letting his anima banner ignite, lest other be alerted to the source of his newfound power. Despite his best efforts, there are some who are aware that he ranks among the Bronze Tigers. The Emissary, in particular, definitly knows, as it was he who granted Humble Avalanche his Smashfists, as payment for putting down a pair of troublesome Terrestrials(Humble Avalanche spared their lives, and let them flee the city. The Emissary is aware of this treachery, but appears to be indifferent to it). The Wyld Hunt has sent assassins to kill him on more than one occasion (never sending armies, due to the Dogma of Nexus), which has prompted Humble Avalanche to begin the life of a wanderer.

Humble Avalanche detests slavery, as his childhood in slavery was harsh and painful. He realizes, though, that slavery is so strongly integrated into Creation's working class, that simply ending slavery would create a vacuum among laborers. Instead, he strives to end the sale of children into slavery, which, he feels, is most harmful to the world. Afflicted with the Red Rage of Compassion virtue flaw, Humble Avalanche gains limit when he sees child slaves being handled badly or made to suffer. Today Humble Avalanche roams the world, and can appear almost anywhere. He is particularly likely to be seen among martial arts tournaments or in places where many lives (particularly those of children) need to be saved.
