Beneath the Shadows of the Underworld

This is pretty rough. I'll probably pretty it up soon.

The Fall

As a warrior chosen by the Unconquered Sun, the man that would later become known as Salax was a hero in all meanings of the word. He put the needs of others before his own, protecting the weak and helpless from anyone... even the Realm on occasion.

His exploits reached even to the Underworld, as of course his blade had sent countless wrongdoers there, where one who enjoys corrupting Solars resides. The Lover Clad in the Raiment of Tears, a Deathlord, was that one. In the end, despite all the good he had done against all odds, after everything he had persevered against, it took but a single woman to begin his journey down the dark path. By the time his fall was complete, he willingly accepted the offer from the Lover herself.

Exaltation

His Exaltation was spent within the Underworld, so then and even now it is difficult to determine just what was part of the Exaltation and what was an oddity of the Underworld. Having the dead rise from graves to welcome him to the fold, animals dropping dead on his approach, finding himself cold beneath the sun's rays but warmed in the shadows...

More recently...

The Lover is fickle, and his time as her favorite was over almost as soon as it began, and he was cast aside. As the bliss faded, he was left with the knowledge of what he had given up and what he had sworn to be with her, to know the pleasure that she had offered tastes of and promised more. He had no choice but to give in, now that he had forsaken the Unconquered Sun. There is no turning back.

In time, his life in the Underworld become second-nature, and he began to forget his heroic nature of his previous life as a Solar Exalted. It wasn't until he was sent back out into Creation that he began to remember again. On the one hand he was eager to bring the peace of death to the living, but on the other he saw how he could save those without giving them death. He was torn, and for a time he treated such thoughts as impossible, but in time he gave in to his previous desires to protect and save those who could not save themselves. For those who could only be freed through death, he still offered it... and regularly.

Even though he had once again become a hero in one form or another, he was also doing the deeds of his liege... to corrupt Solars in the same way he had been corrupted, sending them on their way with the promise of greater pleasures at the hands of the Lover. He knows that this balance between good and evil is lopsided and that no good end awaits him for these small deeds; it just makes him feel a little better.

These acts, of course, are kept secret from his liege. As long as the flow of Solars continues, she has yet to pay too much attention to her newest Abyssal. As such, there has been no need for black miracles yet...
