Cytherea, the Primordial Dreamer

In the beginning, all was chaos. We speak of it as the Wyld, a thing both force and place, knowing neither boundaries nor limits, ever shifting through all possibilities. Chaos, by its nature, brings forth all forms of order in time; but order is fleeting in the sea of chaos, forever dissolving back into the formlessness from which it sprang.

But all things have an end. Even boundless chaos knows a boundary, for in its endless transformations, it inevitably brought forth its antithesis: infinite order. From chaos was born an entity of limitless power, a thing both force and place, knowing boundaries and limits, containing within itself all manner of possibilities. The most ancient records speak of it as Cytherea, Mother of Creation, a miracle of infinite rarity, wellspring of space and time, origin of all our history.

We cannot know of her birth, nor of her nature in the beginning, when only she existed in the womb of the Wyld. What we know is that she slept, and in sleeping, she dreamt of order; and in dreaming, she dreamed the world that would come to be. Her dreams were power, and her power turned inward, birthing things both force and place, things that bore the stamp of her power and her will, establishing the boundaries and the limits of her new creation. Beings of near-infinite power and order, we know of these things as the Primordials, and they are the souls and the children of Cytherea.

The Primordials, in becoming what they were, created the Demons of the Third Circle as their children and their souls. The Demons of the Third Circle, in their turn, brought forth the Demons of the Second Circle as their own soul-aspects, and the Demons of the Second Circle birthed the Demons of the First Circle, least of all beings, in the realm of matter that existed within the bodies of the Primordials. In this way, the power and the dream of Cytherea was disseminated throughout Creation, flowing ever inward and downward from the dreamer into the dream.
