For Muzz

Yaneska.

Once a valuable artefact of the Regara family, the Astral red jade Tonfa Yaneska has faded from memory as its whereabouts became unknown not long after the slaying of the Solar. It was once believed that a Regaran who had failed to exault stole it from house, but upon finding him dead not far from the realm all hope of recovering the artefact was lost. Truth be told the artefact was given to a travelling band of acrobats as form of payment for lodging and food. Recently the artefact has once again fallen into the Regaran house as a member of the family, whom was banished for reasons kept secret, has come across a group of acrobats who have safe guarded the artefact through the generations. The Regaran fathered a son while travelling with the acrobats and soon found that the acrobats where more then they seemed, and in return for keeping their motives secret they gave him Yaneska after seeing that he was able to use it in ways they had not known. The years passed and the travellers grew older. The Regaran changed his name and took his wife’s, Gougie, as their son grew and showed signs of being an exceptional acrobat. Soon the travellers would see the end of their days, attacked by a band of thieves. The sole survivor being the son of the once Regaran, Duri. Now Yaneska is in his hands, and is even closer to the Regaran family then it has been since it left the family so long ago.

Duri’s History

Duri’s date of birth was not documented, neither was where he was born or even any other facts about his birth, just one of the facts he had to face while he was growing up. Duri’s parents were both fairly normal, a women of fair features that seemed to be able to draw attention as easily as walking into a room by the of Freaha Gougie, and a man of tall statue and remarkable build named Grethin Gougie. Duri was also blessed to be part of an even larger family as besides his parents he travelled with no fewer then fifteen people as one time or another, a group of travelling acrobats. At a young age Duri was schooled in what would pass as normal. How to walk, talk, eat by himself and how to go to the toilet, but in a few short years he was taken completely into the acrobatic side of his family. He learned how to leap and twirl, flip and roll, everything about acrobatics became second nature to him. At times he would catch his father watching him and smile as Duri sailed through the air. Duri was happy. At the age of ten Duri was schooled in another talent that his family was well versed in, thievery. Duri took to this much like he took to acrobatics picking up the skills in no time. He would often steel food in the caravans if they were left unattended and be seen later with a full stomach and still not be suspected of any wrong doing. Something else Duri had grown up with was watching his father practise fighting with a strange weapon. It was made of red jade and was able to disappear and reappear whenever whenever his father chose. His father called it Yaneska and explained to him that it was a Tonfa. Duri was in awe of the weapon. Partly because his father was able to wield it in a way that amazed him and partly because as he got better at stealing things it was the one thing he could never get away with. Sometimes at night when he went to take the weapon he would hear his mother calling his father Regara, but Duri dismissed it as a nickname. Not long after Duri turned 18, his family was attacked by a gang of thieves that ambushed the group. The gang was lead by a Lunar and in a few short minutes Duri’s family was decimated, his father falling to the Lunar as his mother hid Duri away and was later slain. After the gang left, Duri emerged, his rage boiling as he wept for his parents and family. Going over to where his father had been slain, Duri found the weapon. It called to him, and in a flash it appeared in his hand as Duri’s Skin burst into flames. His voice became a howl as it rose from out of his mouth, the bodies of his slain family burning as the fire around Duri began to spread outwards. Soon the fire was an inferno, destroying all trace of the acrobats that Duri used to travel with. Needless to say this brought about the attention of the gang that had only left some moments before, returning to see this pillar of fire and the outline of a figure in the centre. Letting the howl drop, Duri looked at the men that had killed his family. Anything that he had been using to hold back slipped away from him as he ran at the closest, the pillar of fire moving with him as he moved. Jumping into the air, Duri brought down the Tonfa again and again on the men that surrounded him, killing them almost instantly. Any that he missed the fire soon consumed. At the end it was just him and the Lunar, the one that had killed his parents. Brining up Yaneska Duri pointed it at the creature before he rushed at it, a scream erupting from his mouth and a stream of tears leaving his trail. Duri awoke sometime later on a guild caravan, unable to remember anything. Getting up he saw that he was dressed in a red jade chain shirt and was wearing a jade collar. Unable to remember anything of what had happened, Duri came out of the caravan and went in search of somebody that could tell him what was going on. He soon found the head of the caravan who explained that they had found him on the road on their way to Gem. Taking everything that he was told in, Duri resigned himself to the fact that he was unable to remember anything and that hopefully he would be able to in the time it took to get to Gem. On the way he was able to remember Yaneska and how to use it, as well as what he had learned with his family, but his parents and his family were memories he was unable to grasp.
