Her name is dificult to translate.

She answer's equaly to Dawn and Moment, but enjoys playing on the full meaning of her name, Moment Between Dreaming and Waking.

Born in Great Forks to a well to do matron known as Whispers on the Night Wind, Moment enjoyed the comfort and privlige of her mothers station enough that, always knowing that her sister, Fire at the Heart of the Dawn, would inherit that comfort, wealth, and station, she worked very, very hard to ensure that she'd be able to form her own household one day.

In the west in general, and Great Forks in particular, the matrons of houses have it all. Their choice of lovers, wealth, comfort, continuing education, and the chance to dictate the terms of continued participation in the benefits of the family to their brothers, sisters, sons, daughters, and consorts.

Dawn recalls that Fires' taunts about her lesser station initialy drove her to her studies, but she quickly attained an abiding passion for the rewards of hard work, and even the action of it, that Whispers began to consider apointing her heir over her elder.

Contrary to popular belief's on the capabilities of women in other corners of Creation, a tall, fit girl like Dawn, when not in line to inheret, was often expected to take up a military career. (Hence the term Sword Girl for physicaly fit, indipendent, and competent young women often considered desirable for dalliances by men lacking the resources to prove their worth to a matron, or simply desiring companionship without ecenomic strings attached.)

Moment took to archery, swordplay, and fisticuffs with equal glee, able to best her instructors by age twelve. She also delighted in military histories, finding them both romantic and informative despite the gore and savagry, and showed promise as an officer.

But Moment was a many-faceted girl, and spent a great deal of time with her father, learning the rudiements of music and quite a bit more than the rudiments of dance. One of her earliest memeories was of dancing to her father's music, purely improvisationaly, 'til all the household clapped. She also picked up the lute, yarting, hurdy gurdy, and organ, along with singing.

Her final, and arguably greatest acomplishment, was the mastery of writing. When too exhausted to study or train, she would settle back with a historical romance, poem, or tale of sensual adventure and read late into the night, and tended to scrible prose poems and flash fictions down in the middle of her lessons, and eventualy took to writing her own prose-histories, and then fictions.

She eschewed narcotics at all but the most major social gatherings upon the realization that they distracted from the delights of studying, training, reading, and writing.

Two years before her schedualed Exaltation as a Chosen of the Maiden of Battles, Dawn was aproached by Song of Forgoten Champions, a prophet of the cult of the iluminated who composed ballads of the forgoten heroes. He sparked her imaginiation wiht tales of reborn heroes, first comisioning a short story from her based on Cult legends, then eventualy winning her as a fervent but not rabid covnert.

Since revealign his true identity as a celestial exalted, Song of Forgoten Champions has become her default mentor among the Sidreals by simple expedient of her listening to him over the three difrent tutors the Bronze Faction has apointed to her.

Devoted to the gold faction as general, soldier, demon hunter, and tutor of celestial exalted, Moment quickly found herslef handicapped in celestial society, with a low salary and a worthelss sifu, she turned to the more convenstional fighting arts. On the up side, she was provided with an emberasment of fashionable starmetal gear and a formidable manse, given that she received many of the undesirable asingments that involved straight forewards physical violence.

Slowly, through charm and artistic skills, she aimed to work her way up in celestial graces, but other than herskill at the dance, she has a long way to go.
