Dear Mother and Father,

By now you are no doubt aware of what I have been up to. I hope you approve and that my letter finds you both well. In my planning I have done my utmost to protect our House from retribution and further predation and I believe I've been successful in that regard. I'm certain that I, personally, have become a target but that's a small price to pay. Should you or the House require details that Aunt Elana or the Roseblack cannot provide, please don't hestitate to contact me via Infallible Messenger. I am alone between 2am and 7am Cheraki time.

I am keeping my allies close and keeping an eye on my likely enemies. I believe I have the economic base necessary to survive but I am feeling woefully short of trustworthy manpower. As I'm sure you can imagine, I can't very well hire people off the street and I'm wary even of hiring personnel through allies. I certainly trust them, but I have no desire to have my people reporting to other Houses or nations. And with Aunt Elana recuperating on the Isle, her estate can't afford to lose anyone to my household. I've been considering asking the satrap for the use of a fang of her troops as guards so I can free Unconquered Flame up for other matters.
