Crevice of the Crimson Sea

Caste: Day
Nature: Hedonist
Anima: A pair of massive intertwined gold-and-black dragons wreathed in smoke; only their heads are clearly visible, as the smoke thickens towards the lower portion of their trunks.
Concept: This day-caste is most often seen piloting his ship (manned by the well-kept undead of sailors killed in raids past) along the eastern inland sea around the mouth of and up the Yanaze river, running the circuit from Lookshy to Greyfalls, making stops along the way, posed as a slave-trader. And a slave trader he is, during the day, and a pirate in the dead of night.

He is one of the Lovers' most favored servants - he believes it to be because of the many beauteous slaves he sends up the River of Tears to serve at his liege's castle, and the many deaths he brings about on the rivers. In reality, it is because she knows of the shard of the Solar Exalt still within him; the beckoning voice and the impulse to act virtuously. The Lover makes it a sport to see how far she can bend her servant one way and the other, to nurture the corruption that he has embraced without killing the remnant Solar within him.

Built similar to a trireme, save that it is smaller, and has room for two tiers of oarsmen down each side (28 a side, total 56), and foregoes a ram for an upswept projecting prow meant to facilitate beach landings. The marines' fighting deck (above the oarsmen) is provided with armored side-panels behind which troops can take cover from enemy archers while returning fire through arrowslits. Grappling lines and poles for use in boarding are stowed conveniently on deck, and a boarding/disembarking ramp can be dropped down to either side from the foredeck, the underside of its outer end equipped with sharp spikes to provide purchase.

The zombies on the ship generally serve as oarsmen, with living troops and nemissaries acting as the ship's officers (higher ranks going to the nemissaries). Due to the fact that no one but the handful of living troops needs to eat, the ship can go quite deep into blue waters - it's cargo hold is more than sufficient to feed five men for long periods of time. When attacking, nemissaries often act as unit leaders, with living troops acting as relays, and zombies leading the attack. Crevice of the Crimson Sea does not worry about losing oarsmen; he can usually raise a half-dozen after the fighting has ended, and another dozen the following day. It's often more trouble to take prisoners alive than it is dead.
