Anima: Pure, searing nuclear green. Lacking a proper coadjutor, the anima when iconic explodes into the violent inferno-heart of a stained-glass sun, ringed in celestial spheres of brass.

Intimacies:

    • Her job, her friends, her home. Perhaps not the job she'd have in an ideal world (the EDC is just not very welcoming to unEnlightened mortals), but it's an important one, and one she believes in with all her heart.
  • The Dreamers
    • Though her loyalty is first and foremost to Security Corps and the protection of all the Dream's passengers, Lise is Haslanti-born and ever Haslanti at heart. "A people without limits", they say, and it is now more true than ever, having escaped seemingly inevitable doom in Creation, and forged out into Chaos as equals to the world that remains. Who knows what awaits them in the world to come? Whatever it may be, Lise will see her people to their limitless potential, and together build a new legend. (Ha, no wonder they call them "Dreamers"...)
  • Her family (mother & father: Arja Bartel & Joran Loew; older brothers: Emil & Arvin)
    • Meriting special mention beyond Haslanti in general, Lise has an excellent relationship with her family, and traces each of her defining traits back to something one of them taught her. (Though that bullheaded willpower seems to have come out of nowhere...)

    • A gruff, grizzled, vaguely fatherly sort. Frequently drunk when off-duty, in a magnanimous and talkative sort of way. While Lise's original dreams of joining the EDC were dashed, she can still experience the adventure secondhand through his stories, along with an occasional serving of unsolicited (but often helpful, she must grudgingly admit) advice.
  • Sis and the Urchins
    • Having a family of her own, Lise never properly fell in with the Urchins, but she still has a near-familial fondness for the group and their unofficial matron, reinforced by their occasional usefulness in providing information of the sort that only kids could pick up on.

Passionate, resourceful, and dutiful, willing to go two extra miles to get the job done, Lise is all that her superiors in the Security Corps could want in a recruit... if not for the fact that her head is often in the clouds, dreaming of bigger and better things. She chafes only mildly under authority, but she does chafe, sometimes wishing she could untangle the strings of bureaucracy and personal and political favors with one good hard yank -- or, in darker moments, wondering if it might be best to grab those very strings, and wield them with terrifying efficacy against those who abuse them. But she's just a cadet, and a dreamer besides. Such thoughts are clearly idle flights of fancy.

From her mother, Lise has learned how to speak convincingly, and with authority, and how to understand the unspoken prices. Her father taught dedication, and an eye for both the big picture and the small detail -- as important to a yeoman seeking both geomantic rectitude and the best angle on the sun and wind for his crops as it is to a criminal investigator. From her brothers she learned passionate intractability and compassionate impartiality; they taught her the way to fight, and the reason to protect others. But it is from Lise herself that springs her most defining trait: the absolute will to pursue her dreams and her ideals, no matter how long it takes...

...and no matter what she must do to achieve them.

Background

Youngest of three children of a trader's daughter and a prosperous farmer's son in Icehome Greenfield. Of her brothers, both served in the Haslanti military prior to the Dream's departure, and the younger of the two, Emil, enlisted with the Security Corps as soon as the family joined the Dream. Lise wanted to follow in similar footsteps -- and pursue her dream of flying -- by joining the EDC, but was turned away for inexperience, and forbidden by her parents after early reports of battles in the Deep Wyld and their results. Eventually, she convinced them that joining the Security Corps would be a "safe enough" alternative (seeing as Emil was still alive after two years in it), and has recently finished her training. Her work has brought her into conflict with the Black Cartel of late, and she has been harboring a steadily growing suspicion of Cartel corruption in the ranks of her peers and immediate superiors. This will not stand!
