Alright, here's where I start my explanation.

Martial Arts is rapidly growing, and starting to impinge on other Abilities throughout Exalted. On the one hand, this is bad. On the other, I rather like Martial Arts. In addition, I really like the concept of the martial arts as being an art, more than just a simple combat skill - a philosophy of being. So. Here is the solution. Instead of having a Martial Arts ability, Martial Arts let you use combat styles based around non-combat Abilities. :) Let me explain further. Under the revision, Martial Arts is no longer an Ability. It is replaced by the ability Warcraft, which works as follows:

Warcraft

Warcraft is the Ability to lead armies. With this Ability, a character is not merely a soldier; she is an officer, able to lead troops, train them, formulate strategies by looking over a map, and the like. Warcraft is essential to anyone planning on large-scale combat, although most others won't find it very useful. Specialties: Stemming Routs, Ambushes, Skirmishing, Archers, Cavalry, Training, etc.

Standard: Win a battle against a substandard foe without taking heavy casualties.
Challenging: Win a battle against an evenly-matched foe without taking serious losses.
Legendary: Win a battle against a vastly superior force without taking heavy losses.

Obviously, this requires a bit of shaking-up, as follows. Solars, Abyssals, Lunars and mortals simply swap out Martial Arts for Warcraft on their character sheets. Easy and done.

Earth-Aspected Dragon-Blooded replace Martial Arts with Warcraft, an equally easy swap.

Endings-Aspected Sidereals replace Martial Arts with Brawl, and Battles-aspects place Warcraft in its place. This means that Brawl becomes an Endings Ability and Warcraft becomes a Battles Ability. Leave the effects of the Gauntlet and Sword constellations in their places, but attach the former Gauntlet effects to Warcraft (and call it 'The Sword') and attach the former Sword effects to Brawl (and call it 'The Gauntlet'). That should make everything work out.

So far, so good. On to the complicated bits... the MAOCharmChanges!
