LunarTotems/Albatross
Introduction
Arad Lotharsen studied the cold feral beauty of the mountains and valleys he called home. Surrounded by dense forests that held many dangers, and constantly beset by the ice and wind, it was a hard and rugged land. The lands people also were deemed hard and rugged, though they too carried much beauty, in both music and arts. He was content, unlike many of his brethren he did not want conquest or battle, he just wanted this land.
Staring out over the sea, his sharp eyes caught sight of a lone Albatross floating elegantly over the mist. Correctly identifying the marks along the wings, Arad felt a smile creep across his face, it had been too long since Trey had shared the hospitality of the Icy Peaks.
The sea bird landed and quickly became a man of average stature with iron grey hair, and an easy going smile. But there was no smile, Treys face was twisted by grief and his eyes were haunted.
"What is wrong Windwalker?" Arad could feel a twist in his gut as he sensed the other man was on the verge of breaking down.
"Call...Calliope Meadows are gone." Treys eyes were like chips of cold blue ice, and his voice was distant as he spoke. "the Wolverine children of MacVeran have destroyed all. MacVeran himself murdered the Old Wolf. MacVeran had the Old Wolf poisoned, then murdered him in single combat." Trey looked straight into Arads shocked face and he spoke quietly. "They murdered everyone, children, women, livestock, they burnt the town to ashes and moved on. I followed the Old Wolfs orders, I watched till the end, and bring the tidings to you."
Arads eyes were filled with tears, but he pulled his old friend close and whispered, "berate yourself not, you are no warrior, were it not for you I would never have known of MacVerans deeds." Straightening out, he snarled, "my people will begin preparing tonight, but you old friend, you are a messenger. So fly West, find Arachak of the Falcons and Kreigan of the Stag."
Not even waiting to say goodbye, Trey turned on his heel, leapt off the cliff face and once again begin his journey on the winds.
