Memory Stones

A favored tool of the Praetors of the Deliberative, a powerful consolidation of Night Castes in the late era of the Grand Solar Monarchy, memory stones were often placed forth as the primary or sole source of evidence against criminals that had been brought before the Deliberative's courts. The stones looked quite similar to hearthstones, worked from Black Jade, that could soak up the memories of a prisoner when used in conjunction with special Dragon-Tear Tiaras of Moonsilver and Starmetal.
While initially used solely in the pursuit of justice, the memory stones quickly moved into other quarters. By the time of the Night Sable Empire they were used more as sex toys by the Exalted than in their intended role, among other dubious functions. They remained in their official capacity, however, until the very waning days of the Solar Deliberative, when it was discovered during the trial of the Solar Deliberative versus Octavian that the contents of Memory Stones could be altered and fundamentally forged by various charms. While Memory Stones remained in circulation and common use, and indeed many still exist to this day, they were never again allowed in official trials.
