The Tome of Enforced Manners is an ancient book, bound in unweathering leather and inlaid with orichalcum, moonsilver, starmetal, and all five kinds of jade. Attuning the Tome gives three additional dice to all Performance, Presence, and Socialize rolls as his words and actions become unfailingly proper. However, behaving in an insulting or otherwise socially improper fashion requires a Willpower roll, with a difficulty appropriate to the unacceptability of the action the character wishes to take. On the upside, characters who wish to do the same to the possessor of the Tome must contend with the same limitation. This is not, however, the Tome's primary power, nor where it gets its name.

Those reading the Tome of Enforced Manners must make a reflexive Intelligence + Resistance roll, difficulty 2. Failure indicates that the Tome partially re-orders the mind of the reader, magically writing the knowledge of how to win friends and influence people...right over things the character already knows. For every dot of Socialize, Presence, or Performance the character learns by this method, a dot or number of dots sufficient, with any banked xp, equal the xp that would normally have to be paid is lost from another ability. At least one dot must be lost per one dot gained, regardless of whether the character has enough banked xp. Surplus xp from cannibalizing dots remains as banked xp.

Example:
Seven Cardinals has Socialize 2, Craft 2 (neither of which are favored), and 4 banked xp. After failing his Intelligence + Resistance roll quite miserably, he gains Socialize 3, loses a dot of Craft, and has 2 banked xp left.

This can specifically be used on mortals. However, using it more times per year than the target mortal has Intelligence will almost certainly result in some choice derangements.
