The Lance of Longinus

The Original Anti-Armor Cruise Missile

The Lance of Longinus was created in the waning days of the Old Realm as a prototype of a new kind of anti-armor weapon, a warstrider-scale javelin that could pierce absolutely anything.

The Lance measures its range in leagues per second and can penetrate any kind of armor. However, because of this it almost always sailed straight through the target and whatever was behind it, usually ending its flight with an explosion and a tip-first burial in a mountain. Retrieval was sometimes a problem. Potential for collateral damage was extreme; the shockwave of its travel frequently deafened soldiers both on the giving and receiving end of the Lance. Some of these problems were partially solved in the second-generation prototypes, which added a long forked head and the ability to recall the Lance.
