When Gaia and Cytherea birthed Creation, it had no true, defined form, and so They called Autochton, the Builder, to their aid, and He gave it definition, form and function. But, even with Fate weaving and true beings walking the new world, it was disordered and chaotic, for thought governed moments. There was distance, but distance meant nothing if it took no time to traverse, there was purpose, but purpose meant nothing if it took a moment or forever to complete, there was Fate, there were Destinies, but no framework for those stories to unfold.

So the Builder, wishing to elevate His work to perfection, went far into the chaos around Him, in search for one of the first among his brothers: Kronos, Emperor of Moments, who had mastered the art of making one action go after another, and the spirits of the Wyld danced around Him trapped by His stifling rhythm.

The Emperor refused to listen to His Brother, and mocked and ridiculed Him for not ever creating anything truly new, but instead toiling endlessly only to change what was already made. Until, in exchange for His help, the Builder gave Kronos a giant clockwork machine that measured not only the passage of hours, but of Age, Fate, Essence and Reality, so the Emperor accepted to approach Creation and work His art on it. And so it came to pass that Creation knew Time, and meaning was added to shape and purpose, making it, for the first time, into something completely separate from the Wyld around it. And the Emperor was content to watch the moments pass perfectly one after another while watching His great clock tick relentlessly forward until the end of Time.

When the Exalted fought Kronos, He would have used Time itself against the warriors, killing them before they were born and making their attacks wound Him so long before that they were only scars. However, the Builder had set had set a devious trap for His brother, that had weaved its power around Kronos through the millenia. The legendary clock did not only measure the passing of things, but absorbed the Emperor's power through His attention, and learned to define these things in a constant and perfect manner, until even Kronos Himself was bound by the ticks of the clock. For it is true that Autochton can make nothing new, but it is His power to make that created by others autonomous and perfect.

The Emperor, realizing with rage that he had been robbed of his greatest power, struck a massive blow to the clock, a blow which tried to destroy the machine through all time, destroy even the original idea of it. In that moment, even Creation trembled, as without the clock, it would never have been. But, in the end, metal proved stronger than flesh, and though the clock splintered and broke, losing much of its power, and raining gears the size of mountains down on Creation, the Emperor Himself was tangled in the machinery, trapped by His own art in His own machine, forced to surrender his name, and cast down into prison.

In Malfeas he stands as a titanic clock tower, its twisted face looking down on the demon realm with scorn, every tick of its bloodied gears making the buildings shudder and every ring of its dread bells making even his fellow Yozis shudder, for that sound, which not even the Silent Wind can mute, marks the anniversary of their imprisonment, and reminds them of their fate. He is eternally fused with his clock, his flesh interwoven with gears of dark steel, that grind forever onwards, crushing him as they do.

He is the Demon Realm's twisted version of time, a clock broken so it can no longer tick forward, flattened so that its hands can only go round and round in circles, making the pain of the past repeat itself endlessly and nothing truly change. He is Kormodran, the Impassable Moment, that keeps the demons locked in pain and rage and the memory of the Gods' betrayal, unable to recover from their madness. It is said that it is he that keeps the demons imprisoned, for escape would mean change, and change is not only unthinkable for Malfeas, but impossible, for there is no time for it to happen in. All his brothers hate him for this, but they will not destroy him, for they still fear his power, and not even the wisest of the Yozis, not even the Maiden of Secrets in Yu-Shan, knows what would happen if Time himself is cast into the Underworld, and they are not willing to try it.
