As many players in this game won't be versed in the Exalted setting, I thought it best to provide some thematic inspiration particular to this game. Players are encouraged to watch at least a few of the following before play begins. More to come.

Kung Fu Movies

The 36th Chamber of Shaolin - One of the best Kung Fu movies of all time with great examples of martial arts training and fighting monks. See also films such as Eight Diagram Pole Fighter and Fist of Legend (either Bruce Lee or Jet Li version is ok).

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon - A great Wu Xia film that adds a new artsy aspect to the genre. Note the wire fighting and near supernatural level of the martial arts. Also see films such as Hero and House of Flying Daggers.

Five Venoms - Another classic Kung Fu movie. Note the various martial arts styles. Also see Snake in the Eagle's Shadow.

Kung Fu Hustle - This action comedy spoofs the Kung Fu genre while being a fantastic kung fu movie itself. Note especially the over the top martial arts.

Anime and Animation

Avatar: the Last Air Bender - This American show has many parallels with the world of Exalted, and draws on many of the same sources for inspiration. Note especially the ties to the elements and the martial arts. The eastern styled setting is particularly apropos.

Bleach - A manga and anime series that really captures the idea of the Hero and supporting characters quite well while doing so in a setting that thematically isn't so different than the setting of this game. Note also the over the top battles and the oppressive, holier-than-thou nature of Soul Society (which is not unlike that of the Dragon Bloods).

Berserk - A manga and anime series with a more western setting that nonetheless manages to capture the appropriate power levels of the exalts through the characters Griffith and Guts. The political mechinations that occur are also very suitable for a Dragon Blooded style game. Just be warned that this anime doesn't pull punches, can be particularly grotesque and may make you uncomfortable, especially at the end.

InuYasha - The best thing to take from this anime and manga is the way the supernatural occurs amongst mortals, who take everything as completely natural to their existences. Exalted is much the same way. Also important are InuYasha's sword, which is a fine artifact weapon (daiklaive), and some of the supernatural elements themselves. The eastern setting is also ok.
