Deucalion's Circle

This Circle follows Deucalion, a First-Age survivor. They are based out of his Solar Sanctuary, which he carved out of the Eastern Wyld.

I wrote most of this stuff down in late March/early April 2003

Deucalion - Zenith; First Age god-king; tall, dark-haired, tanned; Caregiver

Umaro Khavo - Night; propagandist; slender black man; Critic

Shain del Pras - Dawn; daredevil martial-artist; athletic, tanned brunette; Jester

Javier Dannon - Eclipse; old-fashioned gentleman; looks kind of like Mark Twain; Judge

Shaun Winter-Blooded - Twilight; brooding ranger; looks like Shain, but paler and with horns; Explorer

This is an antagonistic Circle. Deucalion is a megalomaniacal monster, long since driven over the edge of madness by the Curse and isolation from the real world. He lives in a Wyld-Shaped Solar Sanctuary, ruling over a population of brainwashed servants. His Lunar wife, who tried to escape into the Wyld when he lost it, is now trapped in animal form and confined to his palace (wouldn't want her leaving -- she might give away the location of the city and endanger everyone in it!). Deucalion is a powerhouse of artifacts, hearthstones, and general sorcerous might. He has Solar Circle, and Life-Extending Prana, among other ultimate techniques. Generally relies on his overpowering social powers rather than combat. Has Crown of Thunders, Daiklave of Conquest, and sundry other superweapons.

The Dawn and Night are sisters. Shaun is a mildly God-blooded introvert, Shain is a flamboyant princess. Shaun is the bastard daughter of Queen Jinen, wife of King Pras (ruler of a petty kingdom in the Scavenger Lands). Her father is an irresponsible air dragon. When she was born, Pras cast both her and her mother out into the wilderness; the air dragon didn't help them at all. Shaun spent much of her life searching for her father. She encountered various and sundry allies and enemies, before finally tracking him down. He still wouldn't have anything to do with her, but -his- wife liked Shaun and helped her out. She is the member of the Circle who is the least dominated by Deucalion -- she has allies outside of his little fantasy world.

Shain is a year or two older than Shaun. She was raised to be the successor of King Pras, but never really wanted to be a queen. She also hated her father ever since learning what truly befell her mother and sister. It recently dawned on her just what a nutjob Deucalion is, but it's too late for her to escape his clutches.

Javier comes from aristocratic Gray Falls stock. He is in love with Shaun, but is too cultured to ever confess his attraction to a woman at least thirty years his junior.

Khavo was the first Solar recruited by Deucalion in the Second Age. He was a political activist from Grey Falls, pamphleteering against the rule of the corrupt Dragon-Blooded. Easy prey for Deucalion's utopian idealism, he fully supports the ancient Solar's plans and helps to keep the populace of Decualion's city in line.

Supporting Cast

Something-or-other Aloe - Khavo's girlfriend. Chief inspector in Deucalion's police force; a pleasant Wood-Aspect DB. Under the effects of a couple of different mind-control sorceries, just like every other DB in the city. She has waist-length green hair, pale skin, and brown eyes. Green freckles? Yeah.

5/2 I am thinking of counting Deucalion as a Liege rather than a Mentor, to represent the absurd amounts of resources he can give his followers, as well as the short leash he keeps them on.

12/2

Since my initial conception of this idea, Khavo has become the definite hero of the story (originally, it was Shaun). I also have a better idea for how Deucalion keeps his DBs in line; I'll write up the artifact one day. It is a necklace which gives you a bonus Essence dot, but if you take it off, you start gaining motes at an incredible pace. If your pool starts "overflowing," you start dying in some spectacular fashion related to the type of Essence that is burning through your body.

Javier should definitely be imagined as Mark Twain, except less of a curmudgeon.

Shain's schtick, shamelessly ripped off from the Noir anime, is that she prepares for battle by coating her (sharpened) fingernails with fast-acting poison.

I'm aware that Shaun is probably an illegal character concept. Her only God-Blooded power is that she can attune to blue jade at normal cost, so it shouldn't be a big deal when I open up the Player's Guide and read that GBs can't Exalt.
