Background

You hail from Marien, a satellite community of Thorns, on the shores of the Inner Sea. Originally a minor court functionary, in the tense atmosphere following Thorns’ defeat at the battle of Mishaka, you were thrust into the role of captain of a company of militia. To your surprise, you excelled at this role, and grew to love your men like brothers.

When Thorns was attacked by the Deathlord, the Mask of Winters, your town was one of the first to fall. During that desperate battle, you exalted as one of the chosen of the Sun. You cut a swathe through the ranks of the undead, but it was to no avail. Finally, all your men were dead and you faced their killer, an Abyssal deathknight clad all in white, his face hidden by a mask of ivory. As he approached, you saw the corpses of the fallen getting to their feet behind him.

You would have fought him, but then you heard someone speaking to you: a man, in a cowled cloak and robes, who urged you to escape. Instinctively you knew that this man, who had somehow escaped your notice until now, truly wanted to help you. The two of you fled, the ghastly laughter of the deathknight ringing in your ears.

In the five years since then, you have learned much of the history of Creation from this man, named Vestak. You have learned of the glory of the First Age, the treachery of the Dragon-Blooded, and the return of the Solars now that the Realm grows weak. You have also learned that Vestak is a Sidereal, of the Gold faction, devoted to restoring the reign of the Solars. However, you remains unconvinced that he is telling you the whole truth. Not only do your exalted senses detect his hesitation and discomfort when pressed on the subject, but you have had disturbing dreams: of rivers of blood and great slaughter. You have so far refrained from questioning him too deeply.

Comments

Bit of a jack-of-all-trades; kinda boring that way. Strongest schtick is perhaps that of the faceperson. - Hong
