I'm personally quite fond of the Scarlet Patterned Battlefield Style presented in Scroll of the Monk. Featuring very few direct attack charms, it makes wonderful use of a Sidereal Style's ability to tread outside the realm of mundane martial arts, and, when combined with other MA Styles, can really make a practitioner quite able to affect large battles - especially with the Essence 6 pinnacle charm.

Having said that, I'm interested in opinions on some things and tricks I've noticed, as to whether they really work, and how to better exploit them.

  • Trick-Idea-Question 1: Combining the pinnacle charm with the form-type charm. The pinnacle allows you to bind people together, so that an attack on one is felt throughout the whole. While you can't kill through the use of this charm, you can certainly carry other effects over, such as Pattern-Spider Bite (or is it Water-Spider?) (the one that causes dang near any effect you want, from CMoS style). The question is - can you carry the effects of the Form-type charm over? If so, consider the following:
    • Activate SPBS form, and use the pinnacle charm on someone high-up in your ranks (possibly you, but I'm not sure that works just yet). Hit this person with the form-type glowing-hands effect that can heal (Essence) damage. The thing is, this is do-able if you know what someone's highest virtue is. This would (certainly) cause the person you hit to heal damage. However, the effect travels to everyone else in the group. Would everyone else automatically heal the damage (As that's what happened to the primary target) or would every individual target's virtue come into play, meaning roughly half of the force (to 90%, depending on virtue distribution) would have one effect, and the other 50-10% would have the other? If all get the same effect, it becomes nearly trivial to heal your entire forces by (Essence) damage every few ticks - giving you a nearly invincible army. This is quite possibly a stronger effect than hurting the other team, which would require actually hitting someone from the other team...
  • Can you use the form-type charm's healing effects on yourself?
