Mountain Folk

Possibly the first race of Creation, the Mountain Folk are in many ways the prototypes of humanity. Broken and cursed by their Great Geas, they fight an endless war beneath Creation against endless hordes of Darkbrood.

General Revisions

  • Enlightened Mountain Folk pay 10 XP for Caste Charms and 12 XP for non-Caste Charms [the Enlightened Pattern is Caste for all Enlightened Mountain Folk, and the Foundation and Chaos Patterns are Caste for all Mountain Folk]. Unenlightened Mountain Folk pay 12 XP for Caste Charms, and cannot purchase non-Caste Charms. Unenlightened Mountain Folk also pay Current Rating x12 to increase their Essence, to a maximum rating of 4. Enlightened Mountain Folk may reach a maximum Essence of 6, but their Charms stop at Essence 5 just like everyone else's.
  • Enlightened Mountain Folk have an Essence Pool calculation of [Essence x10] + [Sum of Two Highest Virtues].

Charm Revisions

  • Valor-Bolstering Method (Warrior Pattern): This Charm cannot raise a character's Valor above 6. It applies after all other modifiers to Valor.
  • White Jade Transformation (Warrior Pattern): The Hardness granted to the character is equal to Stamina + ([Virtue + Essence]/2).
  • Inescapable Volcano Stance: This Charm is an Extra Actions Charm. There is no restriction on how often it can be used.
  • Artisan Pattern Mastery: Artisans cannot create matter out of Essence; instead, they reshape other matter. The character must have existing materials with an equal Resources value to what she is creating, which are used up in the transformation.
  • Incomparable Tutoring Method: This Charm only requires XP to be spent if the tutor is donating some of her own XP to the recipient, in which case one extra XP must be spent as ususal.
