Back to anti-aging effects

So, why did I use the rates I did? To make sure that one person in particular was still possible. ;)

Let's take a young Shogunate officer. We'll say she Exalted at 15, and starting getting age-staving cordials early on; it's the Shogunate, after all. She ages four years for every five that pass. By the age of 75, her effective age was 75. Then some big plague and war happened, and when the dust settled, she was the Empress.

Of course, being the Empress, she instantly starts getting the best treatments possible - so she's aging at 2/3 of the usual rate. So...

R.Y. 1: Effective Age 62 R.Y. 282: Real Age 357, Effective Age 250. Aging effects first come into play.

Of course, she's still the Empress, and she's gotten herself a Hearthstone of Immortality. So there's eight free successes. On top of that, she's picked up her anti-aging Charm, meaning that she's got a die pool of around 23 dice + 8 successes at the moment. By the time it becomes an issue, let's assume she can manage 29 dice + 8 successes, giving her a reasonable chance to handle the first 23 rolls. Normally, a Terrestrial rolls every ten years. The Empress rolls every fifteen, because of her anti-aging devices. Her die pool lets her automatically succeed on rolls of a difficulty of sixteen or less. So:

R.Y. 522: Real age 597, Effective age 410 (difficulty 17). The first time that there's a chance of failure. The Empress chows down on a peach. This removes fifty years from her effective age, dropping the difficulty of her rolls to 12. There's five more guaranteed rolls, carrying us to...

R.Y. 597: Now the Empress has a bit of a choice to make. Chances are, she can cover herself for another century or more, but she's cautious. Plus, she's got all the power she needs for the moment. She chows down on a second peach, grimly accepts the minor penalties, and starts looking for immortality.

R.Y. 672: Well, crap. Still not immortal, and the difficulty's back up to 17. Again, she's got a good shot at lasting another century, but the Empress doesn't like that sort of risk. At the same time, she really doesn't like the idea of being dead. So it's time for that last peach, while she tries to figure out how to live forever.

R.Y. 747: Aaand... that's that. No more peaches for the Empress. Fine. She's got a good century of life left in her. Time to embark on a complex sixteen-year plan to summon the Ebon Dragon and force him to transmute the godliness that she's mostly absorbed into immortality. What could go wrong?

R.Y. 763: Oh.
