Character Creation
Step One: Attributes
Heroic Exalted use the same Attributes as everyone else in Exalted. Prioritize Physical, Social, and Mental Attributes as desired. The character may spend 7 points on her Primary Attributes, 6 on her Secondary Attributes, and 4 on her Tertiary Attributes.
Step Two: Abilities
Choose two Abilities to be Favoured Abilities. Each of these Abilities must be rated at 3 dots. After these dots are placed, the character gets a further 19 points to spend on Abilities. No Ability may be raised above 3 without the use of bonus points. (Note: In Second Edition, Heroic Exalted should instead gain 22 extra Ability points.)
Step Three: Backgrounds
First, the character gains their three Caste Backgrounds. Next, choose two Favoured Backgrounds from the twelve that remain.
Following this, spread ten points in your Backgrounds. Six points must be placed in either Caste or Favoured Backgrounds, and the character must have at least one dot each in her Favoured Backgrounds. No Background may be raised above three dots without the use of bonus points.
Step Four: Charms
Heroic Exalted begin play with nine Charms, of which five must be Caste or Favoured. Characters may choose freely from the Heroic Exalted charm list.
Step Five: Advantages
Heroic Exalted begin play with five dots of Virtues, as normal. Willpower is equal to the sum of the character's two highest Virtues, also as normal, and the character begins with Essence 2. The character begins with normal human Health Levels plus any Ox-Body Charm additions.
Heroic Personal Essence pools are calculated as follows: [Essence x2] + Willpower.
Heroic Peripheral Essence pools are calculated as follows: [Essence x6] + Willpower + [the character's two highest Virtues].
Step Six: Bonus Points
Heroic Exalted receive 15 bonus points, as usual.
Heroic Exalted spend 5 bonus points on Favoured Charms, and 6 bonus points on non-Favoured Charms, with the exception of Celestial Martial Arts or Celestial Circle spells, which are 6 bonus points if Favoured and 7 if not. They spend 8 bonus points to raise Essence. Favoured Backgrounds cost 1 bonus point all the way up to the fifth dot. Otherwise, all costs are the same as for Solar Exalted.
Experience Costs
Heroic Exalted pay 2 experience for the first, second or third dot of a Favoured Background, and 5 experience for the fourth or fifth dot of a Favoured Background. They pay 3 and 6 points, respectively, for non-Favoured Backgrounds, as usual.
Charms cost 9 experience for Favoured Charms, and 11 experience for non-Favoured Charms, with two exceptions. Celestial Martial Arts and Celestial Circle spells each cost 10 experience if Favoured and 12 if not.
Essence costs Current Rating x9 experience to increase.
All other experience costs are the same as those of Solar Exalted.
