Alignment Of The Destined Tool

Cost: 35 motes

There are times when simple purpose is not enough; all the fates must conspire to accomplish one's goals. Through the use of the Alignment Of The Destined Tool, a character helps to ensure that a task is accomplished, giving up something powerful in order to see the task to its end.

This spell may only be cast upon an object that is either not owned or owned by the character. The character touches the object, and speaks out the three phrases with which Sachevarell defined purpose before his defeat and transformation, followed by the commandment through which the Five Maidens once wove the Tapestry of Fate. At the conclusion of this, she speaks aloud the purpose that the object is to have. This can be as simple as "Protect my daughter", or as precise as "Reach the top of the Imperial Mountain by Calibration." The character then rolls Intelligence + Occult, adding a number of bonus successes equal to her Essence.

The object immediately vanishes, fading into Elsewhere. Within one day, it will appear before whatever person in Creation, Malfeas, or the Underworld is best able to use it to accomplish its stated purpose. In addition, the object gains a pool of destiny-altering effects equal to the number of successes rolled, as above. Objects are considered to have a Motivation equal to the stated goal, and can spend one of the successes granted for one of the following: granting one free successes to any witnessed action that benefits the goal, removing a success from any action that detracts from the goal, or causing one minor event to occur that makes the goal more likely to succeed. The object's pool refreshes once every week, leading to constant shifts and co-incidences developping, until the goal either becomes impossible or is completed. At this time, the spell fades out of existance. If an object's bearer actively attempts to go against its Motivation, they will invariably lose it, and it will be discovered by someone better able to complete the desired task.

A given object may not be inducted more than once; any attempt to apply a second purpose fails automatically. The object's successes need not be used by the caster, and the Storyteller decides how they are applied.
