Sable antelope have short coats with males being black and females chestnut. Both genders have white underbellies and a white face mask. The horns are straight and 5 1/2 feet long in males and 3 1/2 feet long in females. The thick neck sports a tall mane of stiff hair. Like wildebeest they will only flee a short distance from threats. They live in wooded savannah in the Southeast in herds of up to 100.
