The tiger are large cats with orange fur and white belly, vertical black stripes cover the entire body and tail. The fur varies in length depending on region with Northern tigers having a longer coat with a small mane while Eastern and Southwestern tigers having shorter coats. The coat color can vary by region as well with orange being predomiant, with white in the North and very rarely black in the Southwest. Tigers, like sabre toothed cats, are mainly solitary ambush predetors but some, mainly in the North, have adapted to more open terrain and will chase prey much like a leopard. Their prefered prey is boar, deer and large bovines but they will take anything smaller given the opportunity. Unilke all other big cats, tigers and jaguars, enjoy swimming and spending time in the water.
