This snake has a pear shaped head with very large eyes with vertical pupils. The body is slender. Scales are heavily keeled with the keel being ridged. Markings are white spots outlines in dark brown on a light brown, red or yellow body. When threatened the snake with coil and rub its scales togeather creating a sizzling sound. These snakes live in the sandy deserts of the South.
