Autol Givis Speaks On...

Autol Givis, Stoneblood historian and former Councilman, has a long and storied history as the sort of Dynast who didn't make history so much as he found himself inside it. A man of strong blood, he's approaching the waning years of his life at the age of 739. Nonetheless, the man's mind and body remain at their peak, although his scales have lost their luster and his posture is a bit slouched at times. An unbroken streak of Council service spanning two centuries, as well as a stint in his early life as a field commander for the legendary Ninety-Nine Roars assualt squadron, has shown him much about life, war and the differing lifestyles at home and abroad. Fair-minded as he his, he is still Blooded to the core, and it shows when he speaks of the times before to young Dynasts.

The Clans

  • The House of Lanterns, Clan Autol

"There is little I can say about Autol without sounding biased, I must admit. But the one thing that I know to be true is... no. There are two things. The first is that we are indeed the Lanterns of the island, showing the way when the others are surrounded in darkness. The second... is that our fued with Rykol is a terrible drain on resources, time and lives. It must end, but the grudge is so deep-seated that even an old statesman like myself can't uproot it. It will take effort... but I'm not certain we'll find such drive soon."

  • The House of Spears, Clan Rykol

"... all that I can say is that they have retained some sense of control and honor. Thus, they are not Clan Buscha. Yet."

  • The House of the Anvil, Clan Estrak

"While Sutnam has seen to maintaining the Isle's soul, it is Estrak that has almost singlehandedly made sure that her body is both protected ands beautified. They are occasionally petty and picky, but they are a giving sort, and are as much of a foundation for the Dynasty as the packed earth is the foundation of the Mountain."

  • The House of the Quill, Clan Sutnam

"The Quills look inside the heart of the Island, seeking to nurture the good and excise the bad. They have been guides in matters spiritual for as long as I can remember, and even well before that. Even still, the latest generation is pulling away from their teachings, and even those among them devoted to the soul and Essence grow older and fewer in number. I pray that things will change, for if there is to be a stable spiritual core in this land, Sutnam must remain strong."

  • The House of Crowns, Clan Irran

"I despise the Irran, and not only because they lord over other clans like it is their birthright. I find them disgusting to be around because the foundation of their lordliness is settled in truth and decree. Of course, they love to rub it in other's faces, but they can walk the walk like no other when the silliness and power struggling comes to an end."

  • The House of Eyes, Clan Toavir

"Keep at least three Toavir closeby, either as a friend, or through marriage. The only ones you can trust are the ones that are bound to you by blood and oath, and even those have their price."

  • The House of Waves, Clan Okaja

"The Seabloods are mad by default, but Okaja are at least ten times moreso. I heard one of the young bastards went on a sailing expedition... alone. He came back five months later, telling of how his boat was destroyed in a freak storm, he washed ashore on an uncharted island, was hunted for three days by savage natives, and ended up fighting a small god for his freedom. When asked if he'd regretted going, he simply answered thus: 'I remember exactly where that island is, and will go back as soon as possible. The island god had splendid breasts.' Insane, all of them!"

The Outsiders

  • Solar Exalted

"They live up to the tales you have heard. Glowing terrors, shining angels, brilliant monsters, flickering mortals with the power of the Sun Invincible in their grasp. I will say something that might bother you; they are not as bad as you think... and they are worse than you can ever imagine. The Sun rises and falls, shines and hides, and thus are the emotions of his Exalts as everchanging. Such swings, added onto such power, either makes for men whose control rivals or even surpasses that of the greatest teachers among the Blooded... or makes for despots who would soak the land with blood for the pettiest of desires. They are neither good nor evil--they are the unfettered capability to be both, even at the same time. Think about that."
