The Enigmatic Blaine Gerard

Note: This version is slightly outdated, the B&B version is somewhat different. :O

Blaine appears to be a tall, fair, androgynous looking fellow, a "pretty boy" so to speak, with shoulder-length silver hair tied into a ponytail and cerulean blue eyes. Little do people know that "he" is actually a she in hiding! His combat concept is somewhat inspired by Final Fantasy dragoons; he is a spear wielder (both melee and thrown) and expert jumper, employing primarily dodge / hopping defenses, with defensive sorcery to supplement.

    • Blaine doesn't know this for sure, but she is now unable to have children, due to overuse of herbs to suppress her menstrual cycle.

    • Blaine's appearance is quite androgynous, either a pretty boy or a tomboyish woman, but she leans towards the male in voice, dress and behavior. People may have a difficult time deciding which pronoun to use with her, but she always prefers the male.

The winds favor the wearer of this lightweight, protective coat, silver-grey in shade with reinforcing plates of white and blue jade at the shoulders, neck and other vital areas. The interlocking plates resemble stylized clouds and eddies of wind, shifting silently and effortlessly with the natural movement of the body, so as not to hinder the mobility of its wearer. The coat falls down to knee length, fastened up the front with discreet, sturdy jade clasps that reach all the way up to the wide, pointed collar.

Powers:

  • Adds +3 to Dodge rolls due to the lightness of body that the favorable winds convey.
  • Adds +2 to Athletics rolls involving keeping one's balance.
  • The winds cradle the wearer's body, seemingly allowing him to defy gravity. Vertical leaping distance is increased to (Strength x 3) + Athletics, double that for horizontal.
  • When descending from mid-air, one may "ride the winds", gliding at a rate of (Stamina x 3) yards per turn in level flight, or up to (Stamina x 10) yards per turn in a dive.

Commit 6

A Dire Lance of blue jade with traces of moonsilver adorning the long, serrated blade. The blade itself is crafted in a shape reminiscent of a pinion feather, the sparse moonsilver picking out the details in pleasing contrast to the jade. At the base of the spearhead, where it connects to the shaft, sprout a pair of silver-edged azure wings wrought from the metal, cradling a socket for a single Hearthstone.

Powers:

  • 1 Hearthstone slot (Gem of Precision Sight)
  • Despite its size and length, the Pinion is particularly light and graceful, enough that it can be thrown with no penalty. The spear keeps the same accuracy, speed and damage as with melee, and gains a range equal to the Essence of the wielder x 10.
  • The weapon can be instantly summoned to the hand of its attuned wielder as a free reflexive action, or stored Elsewhere for the cost of 1 mote. Besides making the weapon difficult to steal or lose, and easy to conceal, this allows it to be thrown multiple times in a turn.
  • The Pinion can strike and harm dematerialized beings. When one such being comes within Ess*10 yards of the weapon, it resonates with a distinctive sonorous tone, sending shivers through the shaft of the spear. Within this area of effect, the dematerialized ghost or spirit is revealed to the sight of the attuned wielder.

Enigmatic Blue Fedora (Artifact 1)

Commit 2

This unusual hat is an attractive shade of cobalt blue with an adjustable brim. Strands of blue jade are subtly woven into the fabric of the hat, providing it a shimmering sheen. A deep black silken band encircles the crown of the hat, from which peeks out a single white feather from an albatross, pinned together by an oval brooch of contrasting red jade. When worn, the fedora conveys a strangely appealing sense of mystery to its wearer.

Powers:

  • Adds +2 to Presence rolls involving persuasion.
  • Adds +2 to Socialize rolls involving making a favorable impression.
  • The hat never blows off from the head, even in the most violent of gales.

Gem of Precision Sight (Manse 2)

A smooth, flawless orb of blue topaz the hue of a clear, midday sky. This Hearthstone enhances the farsightedness of its bearer, allowing for greater precision in ranged attacks.

Powers:

  • Adds +3 to ranged attack accuracy.
  • Adds +1 to Perception for the purpose of seeing from a distance.

Typically worn in cross formation on a harness strapped to the back. Usually, these are Blaine's only apparent weapons.

Ivory Flute

A relatively simple but well-kept instrument of nostalgic value from before Blaine's Exaltation, stored in an oiled leather case hanging from her belt. A small message engraved into the bottom side of the flute and filled with golden ink reads "May your journey be fruitful and prosperous. -N" The words and particularly the initial are scribed in beautiful, near-flawless calligraphy.
