DariusSolluman/Teamwork
This system was stolen from the Fading Suns LARP rules, Passion Play.
Basically, quite frequently, characters will act in a concordant way that directly supports one another's efforts. From trying to push open a door, to spinning a convoluted tale, to learning some ancient lore, to passively being on alert. By the book, each player gets a seperate roll, and the highest would be used. However, this results in more rolls for less result than I feel is right.
Instead, I use the following system. Thus far, it has worked to great effect.
When two or more people are working towards the same goal in the same fashion, select the one with the highest dicepool. They are the Leader. Find the person with the second highest dicepool. They are the Second. Everyone else with a dicepool equal to at least half the Second's is a Follower. The Leader makes one roll, at their dice pool plus half the Second's dicepool plus one for every Follower able to actively contribute.
Thus, if Bob has a Charisma + Performance of 8, Clarice has a Charisma + Performance of 7 and the rest of the band consists of two guys with Charisma + Performance 4 and one with Charisma + Performance 3. Bob roll (8+4+2) 14 dice when performing before the King.
The number of Followers that can actively contribute varies by circumstances. When trying to persuade a king to release a prisoner, a trio of courtiers may each count as a Follower; likewise, a huge crowd of commoners may count for ten or twenty Followers- but not all of them, and just ten or twenty peasants would not add ten dice. Such matters are best judged case by case.
