The mysterious woman known only as “Black” was first encountered in the Underworld. At the time, Ledaal Catala Serotan had travelled through the Shadowland of Marama’s Fell and all the way to the other side while investigating rumors of increased undead activity in the region. Following rumors of a living woman being seen by ghosts in the region of the dead city of Ankhang, he found Black being chased by some hungry ghosts. After dispatching the beasts, the exalt took the woman out of the Underworld and back to Creation.

When they made it to Whitewall, Black was reunited with her father Tisek, a low level member of the Guild. She now helps him run his dried fruit counter in the Whitewall market. She also wanders the streets of Whitewall a lot, when not otherwise occupied.

Black is a full figured woman with fine features and bright red hair. Recently, she has been very sick for a few days, but then she got better.

Tisek is the kind of merchant that will sell anything. This week, he might be selling dried fruit, but next week, he might spot an opportunity for profit and start selling plague medicine. Whether he’s the kind that would sell fake plague medicine remains to be seen.

Ledaal Catala Serotan on Black

“What kind of a name is Black, anyway ? From the moment I found that girl in the Underworld, I have been suspicious of her. Her story about getting so lost she wandered into and through a Shadowland was doubtful and many little details clued me in. Such, as, for example, I could swear that when we found her father Tisek, there was absolutely no recognition in his eyes until she told him that she was his daughter.”

“That’s why I started following Black around after we came back to Whitewall. I thought that she may have something to do with my mission, which was to investigate heightened levels of undead activity in the region. I also pretended courting her so that my constant presence would not seem suspicious. I did not gain much information, though. The woman acts suspiciously, but not overly so, and I have never caught her in any scheme. It’s possible, but highly unlikely, that she’s exactly what she claims to be.”

“There are very troubling recent developments. When I was following the woman around, she visited several of the Immaculate shrines in the city. Yesterday, a dynast attached to the Realm garrison told me that holy implements in many such shrines tarnished overnight. I have suspected that woman to be more than she seems for a long time. As far as I know, she might be possessed by a ghost or demon. Or she might be Anathema. I plan to find out.”
