When I heard that there would be rules for God-Blooded and Half-Castes in the Player's Guide I was psyched. I was gonna buy it just for that section. Then I got a chance to peruse it and was less than impressed. What follows are the rules that I came up with for such characters.

Character Creation

  • Attributes 6/5/4
    • Half-Castes and God-Blooded have a natural Lethal soak like an Exalt; 1/2 Stamina, round down.
  • Abilities: 15 (min. 5 in Favored)
    • God-Blooded characters favor any 3 abilities.
    • Half-Caste characters favor abilities as follows:
      • Solar: 2 of the Exalted parent's Caste Abilities, and any other 3
      • Lunar: 1 of the Exalted parent's Caste Attributes, Survival and any other 2 Abilities
      • Sidereal: 2 of the Exalted parent's Caste Abilities, and any other 2
  • Virtues: Half-Caste: 5; God-Blooded: 6
  • Starting Essence: 1 (May not be raised at character creation)
  • Essence Pool: Half-Caste and God-Blooded only have Personal essence pools, not Peripheral, figured as follows:
    • Half-Caste: As the Peripheral essence pool of the Exalted parent.
    • God-Blooded: 4XEssence + Sum of Virtues + Willpower
  • Charms: Half-Caste: half of a starting Exalt, round down; God-Blooded: 5
  • Backgrounds: 5
    • When buying Artifacts use the math for Solar Exalted.
    • Breeding is available to Half-Caste and God-Blooded, however they only gain the essence pool bonus.
  • Freebies: 15
    • Charms cost as an Exalt+1 for Half-Caste (ignoring mention of Caste charms), and 6 for God-Blooded.
  • Experience
    • Half-Castes pay half again as much (round down) as their Exalted parent to raise their permanent Essence.
    • God-Blooded pay 15XCurrent to raise their permanent Essence.

Notes:

  • Dragon-Blooded Half-Castes, i.e. the children of Terrestrial Exalted with a brighter spark of Essence than mortals, are... more Dragon-Blooded.
  • Beastmen are not Lunar Half-Castes. While Lunar Half-Castes tend towards animistic features of their Exalted parent's totem, they are more distinctly "human"; wild-eyed with fangs rather than furry with a tail. Like an Eclipse-Caste Solar, they may not learn charms that require shape-changing.
  • There are no confirmed reports of Abyssal Half-Castes. Hope that it stays that way.
  • Half-Castes and God-Blooded may be attuned to Manses and benefit from the essence regeneration of a Hearthstone, however the special benefit usually granted by a Hearthstone is not conferred.
  • God-Blooded may attune themselves to Artifacts made from the Five Magical Materials, however under no circumstances can they attune to the material itself to gain the benefits of it. Half-Castes may attune only to the appropriate material of their Exalted parent but pay double the attunement cost to do so, like an Exalt with an inappropriate material.
  • Half-Castes and God-Blooded never have more than 2 Permanent Essence. If their Essence would ever be permanently raised to 3, they become Little Gods.
  • Elemental God-Blooded can take the "Natural Powers" usually granted to Elementals as charms. I'm still working on the system for this, but yeah.
