In my confusion about Leaders handing actions over to special characters I thought up the following:

The Leader can opt to split his action and allow special characters to use these actions with the following limitations:

  • Special characters can not split their dicepool in more ways than the actions they were handed.
  • Sorcerers need as many actions as the turns it would take to cast a spell, if doing so.
  • Sorcery and any Simple actions performed by special character must use first actions from the split.
  • Special characters splitting there own actions use the penalties incured to the leader pool.
  • Only defensive actions are allowed with the split action, counterstrikes are valid though.

So for example:

Joe the leader has a sorcerer in his troop and wants her to cast a celestial level spell and will then attack the opposing force for extra shock effect. He splits his dicepool five times and allocates 3 actions to the sorcerer and then be prepared for 2 defences..

Sorcerers would always get the first action, leaving the leader with the worst dice pool penalties for himself. Special characters splitting their own actions would use the penalties handed down to her by the leader, eg: Joe the leader has an excelent archer as well as the sorcerer. Joe splits his pool again 5 times uses the first three actions for himself with penalties of: -5 -6 -7, and gives the archer character the last two actions with penalties of -8 and -9, replacing the ususal -2 -3 penalties for splitting two times. Joe also might graciously give the archer his first two actions, using the worse three for himself.

Then the Leader might activate two, or more, special characters per long turn, in the above example Joe might split five times allocat 3 actions for the sorcery and the two remaining for the archer. Reflexive/persistent defences are then the responsibility of the leader, if the attack is not specificly targetting the special characters, in wich case the special character can use his own against personal damage.
