There are perhaps two hundred Solars, a few more Lunars, and one hundred Sidereal- many of the last are dedicated to a sinking ship. Arrayed against them are the forces of death, demonism, the Wyld and often the Realm itself- not to mention petty little gods beyond number, the madness of the Curse, and the Immaculate Order (with its roots throughout the peasantry of the world).
They're going to need some help.
The Cabal of Glorious Immortal Cynosures is a loose band of heroes who aren't quite what the name suggests. Juliae Oset, the informal leader of the group, is a Ghost-Blood who has been raised by his mother, ex-mortal Doani Oset, as a weapon to use against his sire, Consuming Shadow-Fox. Doani died the night her son was born, but that hardly slowed her down. While the Cabal's original aim was simply to destroy Consuming Shadow-Fox, it has expanded to the rather less attainable goal of reclaiming Thorns; more specifically, the Cabal wishes to weaken the defenses of Thorns in such a way as to allow a Circle or Pack of more celestially fortuitous heroes to strike down Mask of Winters. To this end, the Cabal is exploiting all possible personal venues with Mask of Winters' Deathknights. If even one can be redeemed (or manipulated, depending on which Cabal-member one asks), the way will be opened into the city.
While the Cabal isn't as subtle as the Sidereal, potent as Solars or flexible as Lunars, they're damn stubborn and have a few tricks of their own, plus the backing of Doani.
Juliae Oset is one of the Half-Dead. His mortal mother, a capable thaumaterge, was cursed by his sire to die before her son's birth for turning against his plan. Manipulating the curse to the best of her ability, her death came just as she entered labor, and she became a ghost- and sang her newborn son to sleep that very night. Blessed with fortune by his mother and her allies, Juliae is now 50 but looks only in his early 20s and has barely a scar to show for his half-century, despite an anything but unadventurous life. He feels a little smothered, however; he's been his mother's only child for fifty years now, and while she's often busy in the Underworld and shadowlands, she still checks in on him constantly.
Magistrate Ledaal Makilahk is a Fire-Aspected Terrestrial Exalted. Not 'formally' a part of the Cabal, he still lends aid to it as his schedule permits and has accompanied its members on many adventures. Despite his Aspect, the power of the Dragons is very strong in him. He has also mastered the Air Dragon style (in part due to his own intrests, but also to fit in better with his House), and is slowly beginning that of the Fire Dragon. He is one of the more martially powerful associates of the Cabal, but his investigative skills (and those of his Archons) are also of great assistance.
Na-Asuket is a Wyld-twisted former slave of the Fair Folk. She is exceptionally beautiful, but hides herself from others for the changes her mutations have wrought on her body, most notably cobalt blue skin. She escaped before her masters tired of her and stole her spirit, but still has nightmares of the experience. She is much stronger and tougher than she appears, can alter her body to blend in with her surroundings, and heals rapidly; beyond which, she possesses a powerful venom and the ability to grow spines of hardened blood and skin from her body. Before being taken, she was an apprentice Geomancer and has continued her studies under Doani.
