Character Creation : I created Marim using the slightly modified Illuminated rules. Everything was the same except that I gave him a few extra bonus points so that I could complete my initial concept of the character.

Description: Marim represents the Cults key presence in the West. He is tall and slim in build. He moves with the assuredness and command of a veteran military officer. His green eyes sine with mirth and he nearly always has an inviting smile on his almost golden hued face. His long purple hair is kept tied back in ponytail that reaches his lower back. He typically wears sturdy clothes made of leather, knee-high boots and leather gloves. When he expects battle the only alteration to his dress is a steel breastplate.

Born into a family of sailors in the Wavecrest capital of Abalone his future was practically decided at birth. His father was captain who brought Marim on board his merchant ship when he came of age. He served well on board and was eventually made a full officer. He left his fathers ship and joined the Navy hoping to make a name for himself.

Marim was well liked by almost all of the crew. He was quick with a joke and lose with his purse on shore leaves. It wasn’t uncommon to see him buy several rounds for an entire salon during shore leave. It was on these shore leaves that he developed his penchant for womanizing and woman liked Marim even more than the crews he served with.

Marim was made a captain of his own ship after only four years in the navy. And it was after only one week that this ship was sunk leaving Marim as the lone survivor. During a patrol of the sea-lanes he came across a merchant ship being an attack by pirates from Skullstone commanded by Moray Darktide himself. Marim’s skill as captain was great but he was no match for a warship commanded by a Solar. Marim clung to a piece of debris in the frigid sea for a full day. At the end of the second day Marim felt the cold that had held him vanish and he felt the light of the sun shine on him like never before. He heard a voice speak to him. It told him that the forces of death had corrupted Creation and that he would survive to cleanse that corruption.

The next day a merchant vessel miraculously spotted Marim in the water and rescued him. A cultist was waiting for him on board. As soon as the ship docked at a port on the continent she escorted him to Kether Rock.

At the camp Mara Swan, Sidereal Chosen of Battles and fellow westerner became his instructor. She was harsh with him and did not forgive his failures though she also praised his triumphs. By the end of his first year they had fallen in love but neither would admit it to anyone for fears of Cult leaders separating them. Little do they know that this outcome was foreseen and indeed desired by The Cult for some unknown purpose.




When he graduated he requested a ship and a crew so that he could spread the faith in the west and maybe even bring in income for the cult by raiding merchant ships of the Realm and Skullstone. These, of course, are not his main motives. He never forgot the words that the Sun spoke to him and he plans to end the corruption of the Deathlords and he plans to start with Moray Darktide so that he may live a more righteous life in his next incarnation. The Gold Faction acquired a First Age Light Warship (Savage Seas pg. 64) from Realm Agents and assigned him 15 Tiger Warriors. He named his ship The Illuminated Swan after his love and left for the Western Seas.
