The Story

The epoch of the Primordial Wars was a trying and formative time for the Exalts. The young Chosen learned and discovered many things. It was during this time of growth that Autocthon, the Great Maker, approached the Exalts and their creators and brought to them the gift of artifice. With this new technology came a greater chance at success, for combating the Creators was no easy task.

In the latter years of the Wars, a mixed group of the brightest Exalts was formed. Each of these Chosen shared a trait with the others in their group: an affinity for artifice. This group, whose identity has since been lost to time, toiled and labored to create a device which would give their side an edge. Despite churning out dozens of potent wonders, the group was unable to produce the device they had been hoping for. Reflecting on what it was that made the group itself so successful brought a realization: It was the mixed nature of the group that gave it its strength. Each member was able to accomadate for any weaknesses the others may have had. With this new principle of unity in mind, they undertook and unprecedented design which would forge all five Magical Materials into a weapon of superlative harmony. After its completion they christened the weapon Coaltion's Wrath and deployed it into the field. A mixed circle, with the weapon in its possession was dispatched to engage to Helvanax, the Shadow Which Casts Itself. The majority of Helvanax's lower souls had been defeated and its Fetich soul imprisoned. The forces of the Incarna deemd it a perfect time to strike at the crippled Primordial in hopes that it could be destroyed. Even in its weakened state, Helvanax was still a formidable opponent, and destroyed most of the circle and its forces. As each member fell, a new one would take up Coalition's Wrath. Finally, the sole remaining circle member, said to be a lowly Terrestrial, exchanged blows with Helvanax and even as he was slain, dealth a mortal strike to the Primordial with Coaltion's Wrath. The weapon had fulfilled its purpose; it had slain a God. Regrettably, in Helvanax's death throes, Coaltion's Wrath was sundered and a curse levied against its creators which scoured their minds blank.

Over the course the War, other powerful weapons were built and lost, heroes made and destroyed, but Coalition's Wrath or a weapon of its ilk was never remade. In the aftermath of the Wars, remnants of the mighty weapon were found at the site of Helvanax's death. These pieces were retrieved and placed into storage. As the years progressed, many artificers examined the materials and sought to use them in various designs. At every turn they were denied by pieces' keeper, a Zenith known as Lantis the Binding Core. Lantis denied their petitions for the same reason the artificers were so interested in Coalition's remnants: The nature of the Magical Materials were altered by their forging and subsquent destruction by a Primordial. The artisans were interested in what new things could be crafted by these altered materials, but Lantis warned that it was too dangerous, that these new materials had an ill omened tenor.

Eventually Lantis died and the remnents were passed along to a less scrupulous warden, a Twilight by the name of Verish Bahahrai. Bahahrai took the Orihalcom pieces for himself and auctioned off the Moonsilver and Jade components. He later used the Starmetal components to bribe a high ranking Sidereal. Verish was killed in a lab accident, supposedly one involving Coalition's Wrath's Orihalcom pieces. In the immediate confusion following his death and the settling of his estate, the Soulsteel pieces were stolen. The materials slipped and slid throughout history, and eventually five weapons came to be: The Eye and The Fang, Logos Nail, Sparrow's Fall, The Chromatic Flight, and The Sweet Kiss of Ruin.

Each of these weapons is said to be tainted by violence and believed to be unlucky. While this may or may not be the case, it is certain that each is a powerful weapon, capable of much of destruction. They have had many owners over the years since their creation, and have been known to vanish for long stretches of time before resurfacing in a different part of the world. Their current whereabouts are unknown, but there are rumors...

The Crunch

Although each weapon is unique, they share a few traits: All of the weapons inflict aggravated damage to the Fair Folk and the creatures of the Wyld. In addition, attempts to co-ordinate an attack between bearers of these weapons and no others will always succeed at a minimum level if not greater.

At the Storyteller's discretion, the weapons may be sentient. Wonders of the Lost Age provides some baseline rules that may be a good starting point. Likewise, Storytellers may want the weapons to be cursed, either by exerting mental influence on their wielders or through other means. For either case I will put some suggestions on each weapon's page. Speaking of which, details about individual weapons can be found on their respective pages:

The Eye and the Fang-A sword and shield forged from the Orihalcom remnants

Logos Nail-A Moonsilver Dire Lance.

Sparrow's Fall-A Starmetal Reaper Daiklave.

The Sweet Kiss of Ruin-Soulsteel Razorclaws.

The Chromatic Flight-Jade Long Powerbow.
