The Telmarines began as a group of clans in one of the many piratical kingdoms which have arisen along the northern shores of the Inland Sea. Centuries ago, their home kingdom was torn by civil war, and they fled into exile, sailing into the internal waterways of the east and taking down the nation of Rubylak, whose capital they renamed Telmar City. From there, they swarmed east, catching the land of Halnia off guard and conquering it in 503 IY. They controlled Halnia and Telmarine until 604 IY; Halnia then revolted and they lost much of their empire, followed by an invasion from the Realm which reduced them to tributary status.

Since then, they have been loyal lackies of the Realm, raiding up and down the waterways of the East, and carrying on a never-ending war of skirmishes and tree-piracy with Halnia. They are most famous for their successful raid on MinasLankWaterHawk in 704 IY.

The Telmarines use slaves for agriculture, remaining a ruling warrior class over the slaves which operates in a largely feudal manner. They prefer raiding over field combat when possible and use their boats to hit and run.

The Telmarines are most famous for their tree-ships, designed for raiding Halnia; infused with elementals, their ships can cruise up and down trees, and often advance on top of the canopy of the deep forest, then lower raiders on ropes. A fair portion of the rulers of the Telmarines are magical girls, who prepare these tree-ships. The ships double as sailing vessels and are sometimes used to raid other countries.

Expert singers and dancers, the Telmarines love to sing while on a raid, and are fairly friendly (despite their piracy) to any non-Halnians.

Recently, however, they've taken a huge beating at the hands of the Boo of the North and are desperately calling for help before they're subjugated by him.
