Well, that fight went slightly better than I expected, to be honest. As they say, speed is life, and TAA had that in spades. HULK was amazingly lucky to ever get close enough to attempt his combo, let alone do it twice! I still feel robbed about the 2 yard miss, but oh well. :) The match may have been declared a draw, but I think TAA had the win in sight. He had managed to do 5 or so wounds upon HULK, HULK could not hope to close the distance again for another combo, and all TAA needed to do was keep throwing those damn chakrams and then dash away. Eventually HULK would be pinged to death, and could do nothing about it. But in game terms, that would likely take another few hours, and neither wanted to play through that many ticks of attack, dodge, dash, pursue. HULK plays pretty much as designed. As much as having an excellency would be so sweet, or a perfect defence of his own, he's a lot of fun to play. TAA was severely hampered by the lack of artifacts. I mean, I say severely, but he still couldn't be touched or caught! :) Had he been hit by the combo though, ''then'' he would have ''really'' missed his armour. ;) Props to TAA for being so sporting in the first place, and congratulations on the technical win. :) [[nikink]]

Aha! Further examination of Jump Rules shows that a Jump may be made in conjunction with a Move. So you could Move then Jump, or Jump then Move. Thus HULK would have been able to make the two yard Move to attack TAA (and be Perfected away). Note for next time. :) [[nikink]]

Tick 20

TAA whips the golden chakram towards the raging monster with Flesh-Rending Gear Technique and gracefully leaps perpendicular to the charge. He lands amidst the foliage with a rustle and creak to catch the chakram at the end of its curved flight.

Sensing a mistake the Slayer bellows a mighty roar and gets engulfed in a bonfire of green flames as he activates his SMASH combo! The ground beneath his feet shatters from the force of his leap into the air like a blazing comet, to come down again with a joyful laugh on top of TAA with a blow that leaves a small crater where the Alchemical had been a heartbeat before. TAA rapidly activates his Precalculated Evasion System three times in quick succession, sending his whirling anima cogs through the green bonfire and leaving the monster confused and furious.

Tick 29

Tick 30

HULK cries out in joyous rage again and blazes past the bamboo like a green fireball again. Alas, the beast is undone, landing merely 2 yards short of his target, his punch causing the surrounding bamboo trunks to explode from the shock wave. Undeterred he swings again and then again at the retreating Alchemical, but once again the Champion activated his Precalculated Evasion System each time and avoided the monstrous blazing fists.

(Speed 5 DV -1 76 yard Jump)

Tick 31

TAA considers a thousand alternatives in the blink of an eye and makes a dash past the brassy green inferno standing over him.

(Speed 3 DV -2 78 yard Dash)

Tick 32

Tick 33

Tick 34

The Alchemical spins with precision to launch his gyrochakram yet again at the monster but does not pause in his effort to put distance between them. The chakram slashes through trunk after trunk of bamboo which come crashing down, but HLK barely even notices it in his charge forward after the Alchemical.

(Speed 3 DV -3 78 yard Dash)

Tick 35

HULK bellows a challenge at the fleeing Exalt and vainly tries to catch up. He runs headlong into the bamboo trunks and ploughs them before him as cover.

(Speed 3 DV -0 57 yard Dash)

Tick 36

Tick 37

Taking a moment to pause, TAA calculates a surprise trajectory and sends the gyrochakram flying again. It curves to the side of the Infernal and the small grove of trees in front of him, then digs into the earth changing it's course unexpectedly and spraying dirt into the Slayers face. The Infernal Monster lets out a thunderous roar at the spinning gold disk which forces it off course by enough to miss, and then spin handily back to the still running Alchemical.

(Speed 3 DV -3 78 yard Dash) (total distance now 177 yards)

Tick 38

Roaring in frustration, HULK continues to charge after TAA. As he runs he picks up a loose trunk and spears it ineffectually after his prey. It flies true, but falls woefully short of its mark.

(Speed 5 DV -1 68 yard Dash) (50% cover)

Tick 39

Tick 40

From this safe distance TAA activates Hungry Gear Tooth Attack and throws the chakram again. Unfortunately HULK sees it coming and casually lifts himself out of its way as it dives into him.

(Speed 5 DV -1)

Tick 41

Tick 42

Tick 43

HULK launches himself up a trunk and runs headlong towards TAA, his fury keeping him unhindered by such trivia as balance and footing.

(Speed 3 DV 0 57 yard Dash)

Tick 44

Tick 45

TAA launches two chakram attacks at HULK. More bamboo gets cut down as they home in on their target. The Infernal growls and uses the bamboo to spring himself away from the attacks and closer to TAA.

The Alchemical retreats yet further from HULK before catching the returning weapons.

(Speed 3, DV -3 78 yard Dash)

Tick 46

A draw is declared!

Postscript

Everything goes black. For a brief moment a silver star and green sun illuminate the darkness and then they too are gone.

The cheering of crowds is clearly audible as HULK appears in a small metal cage. An ageless looking man in purple finery strokes a long wispy white bread as he turns a starmetal key in the lock. Humming to himself he walks away, dropping the key into a hidden fold of his robes.
